  1. You have a very good point. If I look at the people that work with and around me, it is that group of people who only put 90% in that complain the most
  2. We are a family owned business and we usually get bonuses equal to a thirteen cheque. This year, however, one of our biggest corporate clients is dragging their feet on payments so we will probably give/get 50%. But those who have slacked off.... well.... I can already see the line of staff outside my office crying. But yes, I do think it sucks when your boss drives a nice swank car and you feel your (not-so-mandatory)bonus is not what you deserve. Go give 'em hell!!
  3. I would suggest DesignInMotion in Morningside, if you are in the north area. Great service and reasonably priced.
  4. I'm keen on a pack or 2. I'm willing to pay as long as the proceeds are as you mentioned in your first post.
  5. I've had excellent service from them too. Always willing to help and get products in that you want to see or buy. to the guys at DesignInMotion
  6. If you know someone who is travelling, order them from the Sunglass Hut in duty free at ORTIA. I bought a pair of Batwolf Oakley's , asked for a discount and ended up paying R1188 for glasses that cost about R1600 in the normal stores
  7. My goal for this season is to do a number of sprints and aim for 1 olympic distance before the end of the season. This will give me a good idea of what the sport is about and in which direction I want to take it. I'm not being pressurized by anyone, as this is something that I want to do and I will do it at my pace. I do not think I will do 70.3 next year as I'm too new to the sport to venture into those kinds of distances. I am going to try and register as a volunteer for the event so that I can get a good idea of the feel and vibe around the event. I will probably to 70.3 in 2013. That way I know that I will be better prepared for it.
  8. @Garfield2010 - How long have you been doing tri's for? Seems that you have a wealth of knowledge that us newbies need to tap into. Where can I do open water swimming around the Gauteng area? I would like to try and practice some swimming, and I'm not so keen on swimming on my own at the Vaal with the boats.
  9. I'm glad I have asked the questions. I'm still new, so that's why i'm giving myself a LONG run up to 70.3. I need to do the first few tri's to understand where my weaknesses are so that i can start applying better training methods in those areas. But, the numbers are still daunting... I just entered the 94.7 so I now have another goal to work towards
  10. What is the price of the glasses? Or am i being blond today...
  11. Thanks for the advice. It doesn't seem so bad if you put it like that! Needed that bit of light at the end of the tunnel. I'm doing a lot of spinning at the moment to replace riding, as I work crappy hours. So I think I'm in good standing there. I live in JHB so I'll make a plan to do the 94.7. Need to ask Hitler if I can have a day off work. I can easily run 1.5km's in about 10/12 minutes, so I will start to build up from there. Thanks for the advise guys!!!
  12. I was at Design in Motion today, and they use a wall mounted bracket to display bikes. Something like that could be really awesome.. Hint hint
  13. It looks pretty decent. Can you send us some close-ups for the bracket that holds the bikes?
  14. This is my first year (2011/2012) doing triathlons and I'm kinda in the dark as to what are realistic goals to achieve . I have entered 3 of the BSG races, merely because I've read that they are great fun, and it beats training alone on those weekends. I'm wanting to enter the Joburg Tri, but i'm struggling to get my swimming up to scratch and it's only a month away. My goal is to do one sprint a month, and end with an olympic distance race this season. Any suggestions for tri's that aren't on the calendar that I should keep in mind? Now, for next year (2012/2013), would it be a reasonable goal to aim for a 70.3, if i put the effort in obviously, and then aim for a full IM the following year? Are these goals too weak or too strong? Some advice would be really cool.
  15. 63/64 kg's throughout winter. Body fat from 13.5 down to 9.5% thanks to some weight training.
  16. So, does anyone have a Seasucker yet? Any comments from anyone who has one as i'm looking into getting one, just a little nervous of the product. Need some reassurance from somewhere that I'm not going to be wasting my cash and ruining my bike
  17. I was wondering if anyone might know where I can get a Skins Trisuit in SA? I have tried looking online, but I'm not finding any luck unless i have it shipped. I'm looking for the Skins Compression Tri400 suit. If anyone can assist, it would be greatly appreciated. Below is a link to the product on the CRC site: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=51657

@Sandbrat - You going to possibly join the group this weekend? @Blokman - Being slow is simply relative to everyone else. I might just be able to keep you company. Will see how the work scene progresses and might join you. If you are there this weekend that is.

Is this an open group or is it a club ride?

Welcome I am assuming that you are doing the road race and not the MTB race?
  22. Is there a possibility of getting some pics of the kit?
  23. Oh yes, and I have emailed the club in a polite manner. I'm not wanting to slate anyone, but everyone jumps up and down when a cyclist is hurt or killed, but no-one comments on whether the cyclist was in the right or wrong. There are good and bad drivers of cars, and the same applies to everything else. I'm not saying I'm a good cyclist or ever a good driver, but I believe in telling people when they are wrong so they can 'fix' their mistake or problem. Anyway... I need to go work now.
  24. Ok, as a roadie and an MTB'er, I apologise for the generalisation. I will edit the post now. But I still think that they were in the wrong. My 1.5 tonnes of steel shouldn't be forced to reckon with 1.5 tonnes of steel of oncoming steel because a cyclist decideds to use an entire lane for his bike. I have no problems giving guys more than their far share of the road when they are riding responsibly.
