  1. From Eyewitness News: CAPE TOWN – A motorist has been arrested for attacking a cyclist in Blouberg, police confirmed on Thursday. The suspect was released shortly after the incident on a warning to appear in court. The man handed himself in after allegedly pushing a cyclist off her bicycle, spitting on her and holding her in front of oncoming traffic earlier this week. Lona Marais, 47, apparently shouted at the driver of the silver 4x4 to get off his cellphone as he skipped a stop street and almost knocked her over. The man will appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on 30 September.

  5. All the best for your training regime. To assist losing weight I can recommend some reading "Why we get fat..." by Gary Taubes, also you can follow Peter Attia's blog on www.eatingacademy.com, I've lost 19kg so far, my buddy has lost 29kg since March. Keep us posted on your progress, not only will it keep you motivated but you may help to motivate others as well
  6. Praying for a complete recovery for both of them
  7. Brief posting on the ThinkBike forum of two cyclists that were hit by a drunk driver on the Cradle road today. Reports of one broken pelvis, other a broken neck. Any further news - names, progress, hospital, arrest of miscreant??
  8. Really pleased to hear the news, praise God!
  9. If you read what Peter Attia (eatingacademy.com) has reached after some time is to train the body to use its natural reserves of fat as fuel. I'm not there yet so I fill my Camelbak with pepto-pro (hydrolised protein in a powder form) and mix in enough GI32 to make it taste good. I've done up to 4h30 on this after having a good breakfast of eggs & bacon. I also pack Maxilean protein bars (37g protein, 3g carbs). It will take time to wean your body off carbs, but for me it's worth it.
  10. Hi Dipslick - I can recommend reading the blog from post #155 Also get a copy of Gary Taubes book - 'Why we get fat...' I can't comment on your situation but I have lost 19kg so far following these principles as well as a buddy who has lost 28kg since march. PS all the medical figures (blood pressure, cholesterol, blood glucose etc) are all vastly improved.
