  1. From a first time sub3'er as of yesterday. Here is my experience/recent history. If this helps for anyone. I've done 10 tours, but only actually trained for the CTCT for last 3 years when I decided cycling is my sport now. I have a history of always doing sport/exercise so my 'engine' has potential I suppose - i.e. I have always generally been 'fit'. 2024 - just got sub 3 by ~2min, started in & 2023 - got 3:04, started in 1A 2022 - got ~3:15, started in 1B What I am doing now, as best bang for buck regrading time investment. I use Trainer Road (with indoor smart trainer), low volume plan supplemented with longer rides on the weekends. The interval nature of the training plan, helped a lot with the climbs where it gave me confidence (and fitness of course) that I knew I could hold that level onto that intensity, this also brought on a level of familiarity.
  2. That oke pulled 5 of us D's to the C group. That was rather handy for us πŸ˜‰
  3. Thanks for the link - helps to get information directly from the source! Below are the screenshot for anybody else who may need this in the future. FRONT: REAR:
  4. Recently had a service and asked them to true the wheel. Let's just say they were not proactive in looking for a spoke or potentially assisting. Guess I'll try another local bike shop.
  5. I'm Cape Town based, as we all know the urgency here is not quite up to the pace up on the highveld. πŸ˜†
  6. Drive side: 273.5mm Thats according to what I find on the web. Will need to cross reference at home on the bike.
  7. Hi Folks, Where in SA does one get replacement spokes for Mavic Wheels? Specifically, the bladed Zicral/Aluminum ones, see this link here for the specifics https://www.mavicparts.com/collections/mavic-road-spokes/products/new-mavic-spoke, this link is however US based and out of stock of the one I have. I am hoping that someone in SA can steer me in the right direction before I start looking on ebay and/or similar platforms. Below is a screengrab of the sort of spoke I am looking for, for those who haven't clicked on the link. Thanks (holding thumbs πŸ˜…) - Mr Bendy-Spoke
  8. I said I wanna go fast, doesn't mean that I actually am πŸ˜† I'm just getting back from off 1.5 weeks being sick, so would like to build it back up. I'll have to raincheck.
  9. Thanks, I have had a hit and a miss with them. Sometimes there's somebody at the shop willing to chat to you sometimes not. Good to know about tha affilaition of the other shops. I think I have all I need for now πŸ˜ƒ

  11. Hi All, I have decided that cycling alone, and on Zwift can get lonely at times. I would like to join an active club/group to improve my training and road riding, learning about what events are on, training plans, where to ride, licencing, etc. Maybe make some chom's along the way too. Are there any good clubs within the Table View area that I can contact? I only know of the Outriders, are there any others around? I am originally from the Southern Suburbs, so things are still foreign here for me after 6 years πŸ˜†
  12. Yes that was me! Ah ok, so I take it its quite popular for people cycling in then. I'll just make some friends on the way.
  13. Hi All. I'm starting in 1B at 6:40am and I would like to ride into town as a warm up with a couple of people to get to the start. I live in Tableview, does anybody or groups within the area have a similar idea? It would be cool if I can meet up and tag along on the ride in. If you or you know of anyone who will be doing this. Please send me a PM. Thanks, lekker!
  14. I'm not the only one then! 😨
  15. Good to know. Maybe it falls into the 'I ride for fun, but I think I'm hardcore' - that is a dangerous combo πŸ˜†
  16. I'm down in F. Trying to figure out what's the ratio of the 'hardcore shave legs' vs 'i cycle for fun' will be in my group based off how many groups there are.
  17. HelloπŸ‘‹ Does anybody in the know, know how many start groups there are and their start times? I just got info of my race number, and would like to figure out how low out of the starting groups I have been allocated...πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
  18. HelloRyanFowler! I'm doing it virtually, so when I cramp up I can just roll into bed
