My friend had 3 punctures on his first argus last year we were both new to road bikes, still are but we rode the week after the argus and he had 8 punctures in 10 km, eventually found that it was the tape on the inside of the rim that was shot, what was happening was because the tape was perished the tube was pushing into the spoke holes and puncturing.

I could not agree more, I purchased my first road bike just before last years argus, I went to JOC and was set up by Andreas, not only did he spend a considerable amount of time setting up the bike, he also spent a lot of time explaining what he was doing and why. He got me off to a good start.(I had never ridden a racing bike before and was seriously unfit) all this was taken into consideration! I then decided to buy a new bike, I wanted a Scott and as JOC are not agents for Scott I had to get it from another shop. When I got the new bike it came with a computer based setup as part of the deal. Did that, not impressed. Took the bike to JOC, Andreas set me up again and made sure I was good on the bike. I got a free first service with the purchase, needless to say I will never claim that.

From the rules 2.9 A rider shall not ride a bicycle fitted with triathlon, time trial or “Spinachi”-type bars and the organizers reserve the right to disallow the use of certain types of bladed wheels that are considered unsafe. The list of unsafe wheels will be published on the Cycle Tour website at www.cycletour.co.za.

Finished 3:22 I think, garmin issues! Anyway K bunch was really well behaved from where I was riding, had an awesome ride. Looking forward to getting up the seeds for next year.

Welcome to Cape Town guys, drive safe and good riding on the Argus. The expo is looking good this year already spent next months salary there this morning.

Weather, on current forecast is going to make it tough!

Did anyone see the winning time before it was shut down again?

I trained as much/hard as i could this year and am currently just slightly behind my fittrack programme for a 2:45 - 3:15 argus, all good in theory but i had a few problems in the seeding races and so never got my argus seeding upto the seeds that do sub 3, dont think i am really fit enough to do it anyway but it was a lekker thought, anyway i am with you to give it a bash if there is a big enough group with us.

I will be parking at my office in Paarden Eiland, it is about 4km from the start along the new bus route, nice easy ride, and 6km from the finnish, there is parking for about 30 cars, this is in a gated parking with security, i may be able to arrange for access to this area for anyone who does not feel safe leaving their cars in town or unattended. PM me if you are interested and i will see what i can do.
