  3. Good to hear from so many cyclist! As i can follow, the traffic rule on the arive alive web page does not specify how far left one should keep to the side of the road. I just think it's commin sense that a cyclist should keep left and not bunch up and be a newsence to traffic and slowing the cars down, because of big bunch of cyclist preventing them from overtaking. I'm actually a mtb rider, but train on the tarr during the week and is amased to see the cyclist riding in the middel of their lane and not moving left for traffic.
  4. Can anyone shed some info on this question? How much of the road is a cyclist allowed to use according to the road traffic rules. For example riding along a straight road, what does the rule say how much space am i allowed to use without interfering with regular road users? Any cycling traffic cops that can help or a Road commisaire, would be appretiated Thanks!
  5. Hi there, as a club comitee member we were told at our Ocktober 2008 Mpumalanga meeting the following. The word from CSA is that the online licence system has a lot of hick-ups. Use the old paper system and only change the date at the top. Fees stayed the same and reason for this disicion came from CSA head office meeting. Our club applied in this way early November 2008 and we got our licences late January no problems! If anyone need licence form 2009 e-mail me at andreraleigh@yahoo.com and i will gladly send u a copy Raleighman2009-03-02 13:57:58

  9. I've been doing a lap route in local plantation at least 3 times a week, route have about 300m accend of uphills in 14km. And twice a week spinning and circuit traing for strength at local gym. Busy assembling a carbon hardtail with XTR components hope that will add to my training and give the edge i need. Lukily uphills and single track is my strong point. Any off u have the Gauteng XC calender for 2009 Raleighman2008-11-12 13:17:54

  11. Feel like u been ripped off by Cycle shops or other hubbers! Now is your time to speak up and tell it as it is. It can be ripped off service at bike shops or a deal gone bad on Thehubsa. Raleighman2008-10-10 05:23:55
  12. I stay in a small town in Mpumalanga and finding a good shop for a bike service is like me winning the Cape epic. Few weeks ago i visited my parents in Welkom and went to get some spares and my road bike front weel rebuilt at Van Riebeeck Cycles and wow! What a shop not so big, but service and friendlyness 10/10 They even have a online shop and deliver via couriers. So if any one else experienced good and affordadle service at any shop let u know. And hopefully the other shops will step up to the challenge and give better services for better prices. Cycling itself is expencive enough, so why should we be satified with bad service!!!!!
  13. Hi there to all whodid the race this past saterday it was "awesome" The 65Km route started 08h00 temprature was chilly but bearable. The line up was 75+ riders and the rest of the 400 riders did the 35Km and 20KM fun and family rides. the start was the usual rush for the first tight corner with the local swazies in front, we let them go till we had time to warm up and overtook them after a few kilo's. the first 20 odd kay's was relatively rolling surface with plenty of technical singel track, then from there on came the serious uphills and decends. we lost sight o Paul Cordesas he took the leed early on only to see him at the Price giving. Ican only speak for myself its a awsome race that really test one's endurance for steep uphills and technical single track. The prices is also worth ure while. Thanks to all who made the Nedbank Imvelo Classic Swaziland A huge success, and to those who could not race because of race being limited to 400 riders only.Enter at least 2 months before the race and train well ure going to need it.
  14. Anyone going to that Race the 7th of June?
  15. Well u can start off by doing races in smaller towns that has a lot less top riders in them, if u get a podium position there it will give ure convidince a great boost and u will feel the adrenalin rush to ride at the front with a bunch off riders chasing u.Then u get a good training routine wich includes endurance, speed, interval and technical rides . Then u can start doing better in the longer Mtb races 70km-90km. I try and do cross training like running, swimming and road racing helps my overall body strength. So get riding long endurance rides on weekends and do ure speed and interval training during the week. Good luck and hope to c u on the podium soon. Are u maybee going to do the Imvello MTB classic 7th of June in Swaziland?
