  7. Hi Rowena, I do this ride on weekends only. If you can make it I could do with the company. I ride slowly cos I am still a novice however i am sure that will change over time. I ride from the car park at Emmarentia to Frattellis and back then from the car park I do Emmarentia and back which is about 18 km. I will not be doing the weekend of the 15 June as I am recovering from a flu. I hope to start again on the weekend of the 22nd.
  8. Dear Hubbers, I would like to upgrade from 8 speed to 9 speed. I had initially bought an entry level bike, see link below for the specs. I am having great trouble identifying the compatibility of the components, i.e short cage, long cage, 36T, 42T, bottom pull front derailleur, front derailleur angles, etc..... I initially bought this bike to ride on the weekends. I have now taken a keen interest in the sport and I would like to change the drivetrain to Shimano Deore XT. I am not doing any brake changes or suspension changes as yet. If the upgrade to 9 speed is successful I might buy a new bike after a year or so, or until this bike breaks. The bike has all entry level components and I am hoping that the conversion will not only give me peace of mind in using high end components, but also a marked improvement in the shifting and climbing etc..... http://www.cyclelab.com/products/MERIDA%20MATTS%20TFS%20100%20%282011%29.aspx Appreciate any help or advice. Many thanks
  9. Dear Hubber, I am desperately trying to get my hands on a pair of those 5.10 impact low MTB shoes. Can you please let me know where you are getting them and at what cost. Most of the local suppliers of these shoes are out of stock. Thanks
  10. I got the book. 2nd edition, however in my initial PM i was looking for something that you did differently, because the book is clearly not helping. Thanks for your reply. Regds
  11. Thank you Eldron, Will definitely give this a bash (I mean try)
  12. Dear Cassie, I am looking to perform a manual, or coasting wheelie, where you lift the front wheel off the ground and roll with your back wheel through obstacles. Thanks for the reply though.
  13. Dear Hubbers, I have been trying for at least 2 months to do a manual on my MTB. I can pick up the front wheel about 5 cm and then the wheel falls back down. I have also searched the internet extensively and found the technique, which I have followed step by step. Preload, push body backwards to the back axle, arms straight, and still nothing. I am getting frustrated and I need some pointers. Maybe something that you may have done differently to learn the "elusive" manual. Pleeeeeeeeease share. Thanks
