  1. Very true, their craftmanship is awesome, even on their tools. It's very clear that they take pride in what they do.
  2. The BB's are $129 delivered (about the same at CRC, provided you get free shipping). Scuzzy, I bought my bike a year ago, hubs included, so it wasn't by choice. I love the sound, but I can't honestly say that they feel "out of this world". I'd love to service them myself, but I don't see myself buying a tool at $160. However, I've been through a couple of BB's, so replacing the grease on a regular basis sounds like the answer. No BB seals 100%, so bearings just won't last with mud and water forcing its way in over time. We'll see.
  3. Thanks Mintsous, just what I wanted to hear. I was going to order from Aspire VeloTech too, so this was the answer I was seeking! Slowby, fits most external bearing type crank sets (Shimano Hollowtech II, FSA MegaExo, etc.)
  4. I'm more interested in the quality than the bling factor (I love the sound of my hubs though!). In theory you're able to easily replace the grease regularly, so it should last as long as the hubs. But does it really work?
  5. I'm considering a Chris King BB to match my hubs. I looked at a clip demonstrating the "grease injection tool" and it makes a lot of sense (if it's true). But will it really last that much longer? Anyone with experience?
  6. I agree. Rydon's with Photochromic Racing Red lenses is all you'll ever need.
  7. Rudy's RULE!!!!
  8. You can mix to a point. I have XT cassette, chain & FD on SRAM shifters & RD, but I don't think you can mix shifters & derailleurs.
  9. Get ready to be confused
  10. I started this morning with one broken, and after 2 hours or so of gravel road another one snapped. TheLegend is right, the wheel was buckled more when I finished 3 hours later.
  11. Teardrop, you know he's kidding, right?
  12. I've also been looking at chain lubes. Has anybody had any experience with Prolink Chain Lube? Best of mtbr.com (for what it's worth). Is it available in SA?
  13. I wasn't comfortable with my bike's handling. I tried different stem lengths and seat laybacks, nothing helped. I went for a fitting at the Sports Science Institute in Newlands and it was suggested that I needed a frame with a longer horizontal toptube length. I got a frame that's 27mm longer, and used a 10mm shorter stem (17mm nett), and I cannot believe how great my "new" bike feels! I agree that most geometries on bikes are so similar that it doesn't make a difference. However, I'm now convinced that each person has an ideal frame length. Determine that first, then find one that comes closest.
  14. Wonder Woman, maybe it's just me, but I sense a real negative energy between your avatar and your signiture
  15. Has anybody tried Hope BB's? Are they worth their price (R1300 for the S/Steel version)?
  16. Have you felt the Stevens yet? It's awesome! Those tyres are great too.
  17. Either God exists, or He doesn't. If He doesn't, we can do what we like, without consequence. However, if He does, and He did create everything, we can assume that He's VERY powerfull and VERY clever, and we'll never understand Him fully. In that case, I think we should refrain from questioning Him too much, and get on with doing what He wants. Dynamix2008-07-03 13:58:18
  18. Good and bad things happen to all, regardless of whether you believe in Jesus or not. However, believing & trusting changes your perception drastically, and you can handle bad things with confidence, knowing that it's temporary. We all die, whether at 25 in the Towers, or at 90 in your bed. It's what happens for the next kazillion years that we should be concerned about!!!
  19. Yeah, it's not about the bike!
