  1. Thanks for the response guys...will go have a look at those stores soon! So we don't have 'full throttle clearance' type store here in cape town?
  2. So i was looking at a post a few topics down regarding DH kit etc..and seems like most of the guys get their kit from Full Throttle Clearance store...in JHB. Is there something similar in Cape Town? Where do you get your DH/MX kit in Cape Town...at a reasonable price?
  3. Ye ive been told by a few people to leave Crank Bro's stuff alone... Did u get the Nukeproof's locally..?
  4. Lol, ye im pretty used to the feeling now of being 'strapped in'...have had a couple of close calls though! I have tried to ride them as flats but the Scott Trail shoes im using and the current pedals dont grip at all... Hopefully get some (proper) pedals in the next week or so
  5. Hahahahah! Well spotted.... As mentioned in my first post, still looking to get a decent set of flat pedals...the shoes im currently riding in and those standard pedals that came with the crankset dont work very together so hence the toeclips... Busy looking at pedal options...pretty keen on some crank bro's 50/50's...but no one has stock! Other suggestions??? Ok, i'll stop talking now...lol!
  6. Decided on the large...Medium i think would have definitely been that tad too small...Large feels good!
  7. Here she is....my Morewood Shova! Pics from her first session in Tokai last weekend....im still grinning from ear to ear! Makes such a difference compared to the HT i was riding before! Excuse the shoddy pic quality...they look alot better on the cellphone screen..lol! Basic Spec breakdown: 2010 Shova Frame (purchased new a few weeks ago from the Morewood Factory) Rock Shox Revelation 150mm RLT Ti Fox DHX 4.0 Air Alex RIms Hope Pro 2 hubs Maxxis High Roller 2.35 Super Tacky (Front) Maxxis High Roller 2.35 60a compound (Rear) Syncros FR31 Handlebar with Sram locking grips. Shimano Slx rear mech Shimano Deore Front mech Shimano Octalink triple crankset Deore Shifters and Breaks (Still need to fit some decent flat pedals) I know the groupset spec isnt that great but will eventually swop the groupset out for a 2x10...but that will have to wait! So i will be enjoying her as she is for a while...but after last weekends session im not complaining at all!!!
  8. Haha, ye awesome fork indeed! Shot bud!
  9. Does he have bars for sale? If so, do u know what he has and price?
  10. Ye was looking at the grey....reckon it will match the gunsmoke front hub quite nicely!
  11. She is indeed! Gonna get cracking with the build soon...will definitely let you know once she's up n running!
  12. I reckon if you speak to them nicely they may just oblige... About that 1.5' steerer....they could prob do a custom headtube for you...but may add to the total price! Think i mentioned in a previous post...when i enquired initially about the Shova they told me they were busy making up a few Mbuzi frames (Large)...for R6500..thats also a steal of a deal! And i think they've still got a few of those Mbuzi frames...they were just building them up because like the SHova, they had some parts still left over etc... Give them a shout...speak to Steve!
  13. Definitely worth a look! And good price! Shot Patches
  14. Its a frame made in 2012..based on the 2010 spec...
  15. Patches right on the money there....they had a few Shova swing-arms left over from when they were in full production in 2010. They just had to order in the aluminium for the tubing and then weld it all together, paint, heat treat and decals etc! Possibly the last Shova to ever leave the Morewood factory.... They even threw in a few spare decal kits for a future face-lift...great service from the guys up there! And yep....paid R6000 for the frame and Fox DHX 4.0 Air shock...great price indeed!
  16. Ye i thought so...was told that i should look for an uncut 740mm bar which should be fine to accommodate the shifters and levers etc...go look at my latest post to see my new Shova frame...frothing like mad!!!
  17. Received my Morewood Shova frame this morning...brand spanking new from the Morewood Factory! The guys there really did an outstanding job! And the colour is oh so purdy Frame spec: Large 2010 Shova Frame Iridium red/Candy Apple red Fox DHX 4.0 Air I know you all gonna ask so here it is....price paid.... Frame: R6000 Delivery to Cape Town: R250 The majority of the parts that will go onto the frame are coming off my 2012 Silverback Alpine... not really the greatest spec for a frame as awesome as this but its gonna have to do for now and theyre all still in pretty decent condition...the parts can always be upgraded later when the finances allow again! At least the frame and fork make for a good starting platform! Fork: 2011 Rock Shox Revelation 130-150mm RLT Ti 20mm Maxle Headset: KCNC 44mm semi integrated Stem: KCNC 60mm flyride Bars: Looking for some low-rise 740mm Boobars or equivalent Seatpost: Raceface 30.9mm Rear Derailleur: SLX Front Derailleur: Alivio (from the silverback - will change when i can) Brakeset and shifters: Alivio (from the silverback - will change when i can) Crankset: 3x9 Deore Octalink (from the silverback - will change when i can) Wheelset: Alex rims from Silverback - not the lightest but theyre pretty darm strong so will do for now Front Hub: Hope Pro2 Evo 20mm. Cant wait to get this beast up n running....will try keep posted with the build progress.
  18. Shot for the reply Patches, ye i should have included the rise in the original post...looking for the lower rise version...15 or 20mm rise i think it is. Just out of curiosity...with your bars being cut to 740mm, can you still get all the controls (shifters and brake levers) on properly before the 'buldge' gets in the way?
  19. As the topic suggests...looking for a decent condition 2nd hand truvativ boobar, 740 or 780mm. Would like to avoid couriers/postage missions etc so I'm looking for bars in cape town..? If you or someone you know has some boobars just laying around (fat chance I know) then let me know.. Thanks
  20. Well....if you've already got 3 then whats one more to the collection!!! But ye..that Makulu is one hell of an awesome beast! Mbuzi would be a nice little addition though....oh...and i was looking through your post on your stack heights and saw you mention something about your frames being a large...thats how i knew! hahaha!
  21. When i enquired about Morewood building up the Shova, Steve told me they were busy building up a few Mbuzi's which they were going to sell off if people enquired etc....they wanted R6500 for the Mbuzi frame!!! Give them a shout..they might still have a few that arent sold yet or maybe they'll even make up another one for you! And if i remember correctly..he said they were making large Mbuzi frames...
  22. Ye it is a great deal indeed! Just want the frame in my hands now...patience isnt one of my strongest points!!!
  23. Oh, another thing...the guy who I've been dealing with at Morewood is Steve, he's been pretty helpful. When it came time to doing the eft for the frame I was told that they had run out of stock of the usual shock that the shova came with..the fox RP23 I think it was...he said that instead they would fit a fox DHX 4.0 air...the one the Mbuzi came with...not complaining about that one!
  24. A few weeks ago I was considering buying the shova lt frame that's for sale here on the hub...I called morewood to enquire whether they would be able to repaint the frame and how much it would cost etc etc...the quote to respray was something like R1200 and the guy asked what price I would be paying for the frame...after I told him the price of the frame and then the respray price on top of that..he said that for a few hundred more rands that they could make up a shova 2010 frame with rear shock included as they had a few shova swingarms lying around the factory and they would just have to order the aluminium to make up rest of the frame...total price for frame with rear shock and delivery to cape town...R6250!!! Considering that I've seen some guys selling 2nd hand frames for more or less the same price I reckon its a great price! Should be receiving frame by the weekend or early next week! Can't wait!
  25. Howsit peeps, Ive ordered a NEW 2010 Shova frame from Morewood and it should be here sometime next week....frothing like crazy!!! The tech spec for the frame says it requires a 44mm semi-integrated headset...im Interested to know what semi-integrated headsets you guys are using on your Shova's? and where to get them? Gonna be running a Rockshox Revelation 130-150mm RLT Ti...fyi Any advice/input will be much appreciated
