  1. sachets all over the road is just wrong. yes I do end up with a sticky shirt by the end of my race but being so blatantly lazy to chuck your packet in the road is why this planet is such a f-ing mess, most people just dont give a damn anymore.
  2. went over lunch time expecting masses of people but it was fairly quiet. Picked up my number in under a minute. the new speciailsed range is magnificant . An extra 6k for the 2009 tarmac is heavy no matter how much better the sales folk tell me it is. he tried to convince me i would far prefer riding a robioux than ac tarmac...its an age thing apparantly. como had williers and de rosa on display...mmmnnn willier bloody nice too, perhaps even nicer than the tarmac. Disappointed with the cervelo stand. thought they might have the new s range on display. Lots of rubbish also so if in a huury can do the entire expo in 4 minutes. Picked up my power bars and gels and was outta there. Lots of hotties around and that taylor girl is rather cute. cant be much fun for her riding a stationery bike for bored ages and having blokes ogling her. skipped challenging graham joffee to a keep the light burning eskom cycling challenge. Solomons had a mssive display with lots of show specials but who knows how special they are. worht going just for the hotties !!
  3. fun days those were. Prob was feeling so crappy for days after. still listen to that sort of music but more on the proggy side of things. once in a while, get the itch to get out for another fun night but realise that a balding almost 39 year olds look a little out of place and my kids are up early sunday morn. jhb train station at 3am full up crazy nutters with their hand in th air and smiling......life was FUN !!

I look forward to watching the show but its needs to be jacked up. the follwing might work arnie needs to go and let owen and AM do the show on their own. Both are eloquent and know their way around a bike. Love to see some bike reviews and honest opinions thrown about. The show is just so sterile. Bike riders want to see bikes, clothes, action not just blah blah blah blah
  5. ..sad but still not made any purchase. The new dining room table, laminate flooring in my daughters room and .....endless other household & family requirments took preferance. I am still on my trusty 10 year old cannondale caad4 with who knows what crummy components. The extra work I put in while my mates zip around on their quiet cervelo's, treks etc keeps me believing that when I do eventually make the purchase the hills will feel like flats. Did kick ass on Krugersdorp hill Saturday but whatever !!. A cousin of mine can get a great deal on a madone 4.5 (Shim 105). Very sexy bike and has more appeal than the GT or even the Felt. Can get it for 16k which is quite a saving., but t begs the question which is the better bike of the 4 now ???
  6. Got my eye on a machine which comes fitted with a compact crank 50/34. My current ride is a 53/39. Which is better and whats the real difference ? C
  7. I am reluctant to make use of any of these products. Pretty sure that hard training, boxing classes during the week for muscle and strength, and correct eating will set me right. I was just curious to know if these products actaully work or its just marketing bullsh*t. Cut out the crap from your diet is always a step in the right direction...tex anyone !!
  8. I noticed in the latest bicycle magazine an advert for a range of USN products aimed at "making you lean". You took something before your ride to boost endurance and burn fat, another product to put in your bottle during your ride, but you had to avoid taking carbs at the same time and then finally another product post ride. All were aimed at burning fat and getting that lean look. When you walk into your local pharmacy that displays multitudes of these products, its rare that there is a sales assistant who can actually advise you on what to take and what can or wont work for you. Usually the sales assiatant has no proper training and cant offer correct info. Sure we want to lean out and reduce unwanted fat but are these types of products the right way and do they actually improve performance. Your opinions Colin
  9. Done lots of research on the various options for a carbon bike under 20k (yes saw previous thread on it as well) and have my eye on the specialized tarmac comp and felt f4. They appear to me to both be very similar frame wise. The tarmac comes with 105's, while the felt has ultegra. Both are listed at the same price of R18500 but there is a dealer advertsing the felt on bikehut for around R16500. At that price the felt makes more sense but I want to make the right purchase. I rode the felt in the car park and it felt good. I am currently riding a 10yr old canondale caad3 (alu frame) with 2nd from bottom components (shimano). it does have a carbon fork though. I have never had a days problem with the canondale and although its old I have only begun the ride again properly the last 5-6 months after many a years brake (7 actually). A recent UK mag compared the tarmac to the giant tcr (3), pinarello FP2 and a raleigh ..something. The tarmac came out on top !! I am looking for an aggressive, responsive ride that likes the hills as much as I do. any suggestions ?
