  2. haha thanks hey i got the "M", that was a typo fail. was looking for pivot hardware, bolts bushings etc, mine are rank, but i got inot contat with ''Steve" he could be sorting me out with spares. unrelated to the 'M' will be looking for a decent mechanic (in a month or two) to help with installing some parts (CT area) i mean i`m no slouch with a spanner but i`ve never put togther a bike from scratch, "do it right once" you know. would very much not like to cock it up on the first go. any suggestions where i can go? or to whom i can go to?
  3. there goes the weekend then, Isle of Man TT is farking hectic, those guys are proper nut cases.

    Izimu 06/07

Hi i'm Looking for the hardware that mounts the swing arm to the frame, bushings, bolts etc... Took it apart to get it fixed, and they have gotten feet!!! If anyone knows where I can get replacements (other than a normal bolt shop, although that's not a bad idea?) or has something laying around, I'll buy it or barter it with a six pack, depending on the value, could be two six packs?

    Stolen DH Bike

there were a few postings recently about this. it actually has a lot to do with safety, in terms of guys going down colliding with guys going up. i caught wind of it on the tokai MTB group on facebook.
  10. this is true some of the savings online cant be ignored - everything here is somethings really overpriced
  11. i`ve also purchased from both, i remember the first time i steeped into a shop, not knowing a dam thing, the bike shop really helped alot back then, but in the online age, the information just needs to be more forthcoming on the part of local bike shops, it certainly helps. even CRC started as a local shop they saw the growing need for expansion into the online market. its just an accessibility thing i reckon
  12. thanks was wondering why the are so cheap, would not go that way now. cause i`d like my wheel to last a while. 9/10 times peopel are recommending the hope hubs / with a decent rim, and with good reason if you wont have to buy another wheel set for a while it seems like a much more worthwhile option. now i just need to byt vas and make a purchase! shot for the advice

  14. just a thought, have you had or know anyone who has been using the Shimano Zee Hubs? they are very weel priced on CRC at the moment.
  15. those wheels look awesome! yeah i was looking at the parts hubs/rims/spokes on CRC it certainly seems cheaper getting the parts and then sending them to a wheel builder. the Nukeproofs are going on a super cheap sale price so i may just go that way instead, thanks for the tips! cheers
  16. As Grinch said, stretches will help a long way, the blue foam rollers at gym will do well to massage out the areas in question. And as pointed out sometimes the treadmill is better. It's different from person to person.
  17. Incase you're wondering I have had the following. iTb due to over training, I also lost a lot of weight like you have. Which took months to fix only to manifest itself as torn cartilage in my hip joint as a result of the DDH I was born with. This then caused impingements in my left hip and a disk to slip out at L4/L5. Most of what I've told you are things I have picked up from other runners and the doctors that I have had (there have been many) So my best advice is to rest properly enjoy a good break, and try to look at it from all angles before you start training full on Good luck (apologies for grammar and spelling I types this on my phone)
  18. Oh and running causes a jarring motion up your leg (which is more prevalent in bigger runners). Which takes its toll on your knee. Also if its actually ITB it's the myo facial (improper spelling) band that runs down your side that rubbing over the outside of the knee, this band becomes inflamed with excess use. Cycling does not cause it due to the fact that the motion is more stable in general, but cyclists have been know to get ITB as well.
  19. I've had a similar problem but yours first. It sounds weird due to the fact that most people complain that treadmill running give rise to various "niggles" (due to the uniformity of the surface) where as road running has slightly more "give", trail running even moreso (picture suspension working on an mtb vs no suspension in a road bike) Anything can cause ITB (or so i'm told) factors like muscle imbalances, weakness in running stance, poor shoe choice etc etc, my best guess though is that over training could be your main concern 250kms a week, plus 2-3 times at gym does sound hectic. You mentioned you changed shoes? The only advice I can give is that you first rest and heal, wait for the swell to go down. And start looking at it pragmatically. 1) shoes (properly fitted) 2) excercise duration and intensity (obey a proper resting period) 3) environment, treadmill vs road look carefully at why you think it's buggering your left knee And then take it from there, 8/10 you'll figure out how you are getting what you getting 2/10 you'll need a physician. Good luck

    DH Wheel set

i`ve been looking for a wheelset to go with my rig. i`ve herd good things about the nuke proof sets on CRC, and then of course there are the more expensive hope builds ( some colourful hubs will be pricey although rther good looking ) any suggestions on a good inexpensive set?
  21. thanks, for the heads up i`ll be contacting morewood soon!
  22. That's exactly what I was thinking as well. I've also heard about them selling the older model frames dirt cheap.
  23. Thanks for all the advice guys. I think in the end I will end up giving Morewood a call just to check, I'm only hoping to get maybe another year out of it so come what may its no train smash, so to speak. A couple more bucks to have it looked at by the pro's will be money well spent.
  24. I have recently had a crack in my izimu frame repaired (swing arm) welded up nicely, the company i sent it to reckons its not nesessary to hear treat it post weld, although many people say that hear treating is essential. Can it be heat treated post weld or should I just leave it as is and see how far I get? Any advice would be appreciated
  25. either of the two disciplines take some serious mettle to compete at the highest level , the other is clear about that from the get go. as for the comment about no Lycra?,speeding a down hill section in tights, coming off and mangling your leg is bad. just as bad as trying to climb "the mast" in thick down hill pants with knee pads. goes both ways. and I for one would like to give it a go if they organise a race here in CT.
