    Berg 100 Cancelled

    Something about the Zombie Apocalypse.
  2. Just got word that the Berg 100 has been cancelled.
  3. Thought it might be interesting to see some of the stuff people have found whilst riding trails. This is something I picked up riding in the Borederstroom area, near Van Gaalens that I thought was rather interesting. Looks like a stone age hand axe.
  4. I went there, for the first time in about 20 years, with my kids a couple of months ago. It hasn't changed in 20 years. Same tired exhibits. I was rather disappointed.
  5. Still busy with my David Bowie binge. Moved from my iPod to YouTube. try this one:
  6. I was jacked about 9 years ago whilst out on my MX bike. Took a water break at a favorite jump spot, a guy walking along the road greeted me as he passed, I thought nothing of it. Next minute I have a very nice Glock pointed in my face. Fortunately he only took my hydration pack with my cell phone, emergency money and, *sob*, my KTM tool kit. I don't think he had the appetite to try steal the bike. I've often thought about the 'what if'? All I can say is it happened fast, very fast. If I had a piece on me and I had tried to get it out I would be dead. I'm not Chuck Norris and real life is not Hollywood. A jacking you walk away from is a good one. A bike / cell phone / etc can be replaced. I never did replace the KTM tool kit though. I'll carry mace. If I feel threatened I'll get it out and try be prepared but you rarely get a chance to prepare.
  7. One other question: Am I going to risk damage anything if I don't replace a worn pulley straight away?
  8. Did she do this calculation to try and work out why she's been so much happier over the past year??
  9. I don't know whether getting up at 3:00 shows dedication or insanity...either way, respect! I'll try the 4:45 start again tomorrow.
  10. Rule number 5 will need to be amended a bit: 5.1 - wake the &^%@ up 5.2 - harden the &^%@ upThe riding buddy would help, I knew I should have made a point of being nicer to people... My problem has always been that I manage to ride with guys who constantly let me down (they are worse at getting up than I am) and I am a based a bit out of the way so I end up finding it easier to ride on my own. I guess I'm going to have to start being a bit more dedicated; start getting to bed earlier, get up, get out.
  11. I'm seriously struggling to get up early enough to get a ride in. I made sure my bike was cleaned and lubed up last night, set my alarm for just before 5:00AM. I was ready. Hit the sack at 22:00, was woken up a few times during the night (pets, kids, etc.), alarm went off at the allotted time - I felt like a train had ridden over me. The ride was put on hold. Does anyone have any insider secrets, other than plain will power or freakish genetics that enable you to get by with 2 hours sleep, that might help here?
  12. Prices are pretty good on the pulleys, I see I can get 11 tooth BBB pulleys for R150 or a set of SRAM 11 tooth for R300. I'm thinking the SRAM would be the better option.
  13. Thanks guys So the basic plastic will work fine. I'm running SRAM X0 at the back. And it is starting to look a bit like a shuriken so I'm assuming now would be a good time to do it.
  14. Hi all Whilst cleaning my MTB today I noticed that the rear derailer lower puller wheel is looking pretty warn. I haven't had any issues with it yet but how do I know when it needs replacing and is this something you can buy at a LBS?
