  1. You're totally off the mark. Most online SA shops aren't big enough to qualify for shipping rates as low as R30 via courier. A standard courier deal for most online sites which would allow you to cover nationwide, would be almost R100 per item with some quotes being even higher than that.
  2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wx2e9jSSK6E Very funny YouTube video. If you haven't watched it yet, go ahead. it'll give you a laugh.
  3. No it can't. The Edge 200 doesn't have a maps function.
  4. And another one as posted by a Hub member "Watch out for this guy another Gumtree scammer. http://www.gumtree.c...650910264950209 http://www.gumtree.c...470910264950209 Says he wants a deposit and he will send through the items immediately. This is a scam please be careful. "
  5. Almost every day there seems to be some new scam, advert or website trying to part honest people with their hard earned cash. We have threads for our latest buys, and our not so good buys, so why not for the buys we shouldn't be making? If you come across an advert, website or deal that seems to good to be true then post it here so everyone can be in the know. I'll start with the link to this one that's just raised it's head. http://www.sale-bike...PARTS-GROUPSET/ If you google bike scams Indonesia you will soon find that it's a hot bed of criminal activity. The fact that this website doesn't accept credit cards is a big warning sign. As soon as you make that 'wire transfer' it'll be 'bye bye' money. Let's help Hubbers to save thousands of Rands which are better off spent on you and your bike.
  6. Quintana coming off the bus. These guys look a lot bigger on TV than they are in real life. Most of the bikes were set up with a single 54 or 55 tooth big ring, for the TT. You could get up real close to the spare bikes on top of the team cars and see what the gear was. I missed the Dan Martin / Garmin Sharp crash by about 200m from where I had gone to watch them race. It was also interesting to see the individual team set up in the riders camp. I would have to say that Sky, Trek, BMC & Movistar gave the overall impression of being the most organized. Most of the riders didn't arrive until about 30 - 40 minutes before they were due to start and for some reason, a lot of them, ( even from different teams) all warmed up with their noses stuffed with cotton wool. I don't know what the reason was. Vicks nasal spray was also in use. It was nice to see it in the flesh though and the atmosphere was great. The pre-race supporters village was a bit disappointing. CRC had a minimalist stand, a supplier of Fondriest & Basso bikes were there but apart from a couple of others that was about it. A cycling Giro shirt commemorating the start was GBP60 (about a R1000).
  7. A few photo's from the opening TTT
  8. But on the bright side, I'm heading over to Northern Ireland this Friday and will be there for the start and the first days TT. And on an even brighter note, the TT goes past my Gran's house twice, so it's tea and biccies at the roadside for me then.... Is there a Hub flag I can get to wave?
  9. I'm always afraid of viruses etc when using these type of sites. I do run Kaspersky though. Do any of you get any hassle in that regard?
  10. Aaaah, according to that article he must have been using the special 'energy gels', (nudge, nuge, wink, wink)
  11. If I were you I'd wait until I could upgrade the whole bike to buy a decent 2nd hand bike with better components and wheels. If you take R1600 + R6500 for a groupset = R8100, plus what you get for your own bike when you sell it. That would make for a very decent bike.
  12. Hi Guys (& Gals), I'm hoping someone can help. I could try and sell the above bike and get a few hundred bucks, but I'd rather help someone out who's less fortunate than many of us. Do you know of anyone who may require a bike as a means of transport to maybe get them to work etc. I'll give them the bike. It's a 54cm C to C top tube, a heavy old thing but it's solid and will last for years. It's all working 100% but I will stick a couple of funky new tyres on it so it keeps on rolling. It is currently in Blouberg, so somewhere in the near Western Cape please as it's waaaay to heavy to post. (and please, no chancers, I'd like to help someone) Thanks in advance.
  13. I wonder how many customers they have actually ripped off over the past years. I hope they don't get to rip any more off.
