  1. Why? The reason I'm asking advice is to prevent catastrophe. What is looming on the horizon here?
  2. Thanks for the replies! I guess I'll wait until something nice in the 58 range comes up on the classified, then.
  3. When I bought my MTB, my LBS measured me and suggested a Large, and eventually sold me a Large which I feel fits me perfectly. Now, I want to buy a secondhand road bike. I'm 1.78 m tall, with an inner leg of about 89 cm. According to Calculator that means that I need a 59, but that I can consider a 57-61. How important is it to stay within that range? I'll only use the road bike for the occasional 94, not for general training. Can I deviate, or will I end up cursing myself after 20km?
  4. What do you think of the Merida Race Lite 903? It comes with the Tiagra groupset, and I can get one for about R9250 (new). I'm still looking for good 2nd hand buys, but haven't seen 58s that I like yet. @Eugene - I'll take a look at Solomons.
  5. Hi, I'm looking for a size 58 road bike. My budget is about 10k - anything more and I will have to wait a month or two. I don't intend to spend much time on it - will mainly use it for the 94.7 and the occasional road race. My training will mostly be on MTB. What will be good value for money in this range? I don't mind buying second hand. I've looked at the Chinese Carbon thread. That looks like heaps of fun, but a frame and set of rims will already cost about 12k, and that excludes all the accessories.

  7. My "advisors" also ride 26ers - so I'm more than willing to listen to a 26er!
  8. Hi ppl, I'm looking at entering the world of MTBing, so I'm in the market for a bike. I have a few friends who're currently advising me, but I thought to throw the question here as well to see what your suggestions are. I'm looking for a 29er, full suspension, for up to R20k. I'll buy new this time - partly to spoil myself, and partly because I'm probably going to need after sales support. I'd like to buy something that will last me at least a few years. What would your suggestions be? My measurements make me a large - though I'm a very light large.
