  1. From original post the FBI got us too Tracking http://www.trackmyparcel.co.za/ http://www.17track.net/index_en.shtml
  2. Same like the Chinese carbon thread. Although we found that to be focused on mainly frames. So alot like on mtbr and rbr we will have one for wheels and one for frames and accessories. Here we go. I had a set of 50mm carbon clinchers i bought from Dengfu rode them for about 6 months before getting a super deal on zipps and gave em to my brother. They weren't the lightest wheels, but were absolutely amazing noticeable difference when riding them compared to my training wheels. Don't have pics of them now but will get some up asap.

    MTB Frameset

Hi all, I am currently putting a bike together, however I am struggling to find framesets, well more so just variety... I am looking at something to handle technical cross country type riding. I am undecided between hardtail and dual suspension at the moment. There are a few that are easy to get hold of: Giant anthem, Pyga one ten, Pivot mach 429 ,chinese carbons.... Problem I find is price: chinese carbon hardtails and giant anthem are both very well priced, but if you want anything from there the price jumps R6000 for aluminium dual suspensions. I Just wanted to ask if I am missing something, other options or brands that I should be looking at?
  4. This is a new build I have started. It has overtones of a Tolkien novel - one bike to rule all the disciplines. The plan is to build a Cyclocross bike that i can use on road and on dirt road. Oh and to use Disc brakes. For that i needed fatter tires and some clearance on the frame. Disc Brakes and hydraulic vs mechanical: . I was originally hoping to go Di2 hydraulic but they are just stupid expensive and Di2 is so complex to configure i almost gave up. But i will likely go to Di2 in the future as prices fall. Or SRAM Red 22, but we all know that story. Plus i am a Shimano brake fa, especially the new XT stoppers, which are what the road hydraulics are based on. There are still some issues outstanding like tires and what tires will actually fit in the frame. All of the bits have been purchased and are on their way in or will be bought once the frame gets here. Here is the build list. Frame: Chinese Carbon - Deng Fu FM 059 Cyclocross Disc Frame with Fork and seat post and headset included. About R 9k all in landed here. Naked Carbon. A mate ordered one and it looks substantial. Brakes: Shimano CX 77 mechanical discs with 160 mm Shimano Ice Tech Rotors Shifters: Ultegra 6700 10 Speed - still need to get these Front Derailleur: SHimano CX Specific Cranks: Shimano CX 70 compact Crank 172,5 mm 46/32 Rear Derailleur: Shimano XT Clutch type with long cage, Cluster: Shimano 11-28 for some extra spins to get me up the hill Road Bars - 460mm Specialized Saddle Pedals - likely a set of Crank Brothers as I have some spare. Wheels: Lots of issues and information that is very confusing here, so i opted for a second hand set of Carbon 29er Black Spades that i found on the hub. I will try these first and see what they work like but would ultimately like to get a CX specific set like a set of ZTR Iron cross rims. Tires - based on them fitting in the frame the widest i can go is about 35 mm. I am looking at Schwalbes, but they are all really expensive. I am a big fan of tubeless (not tubbies) I got a lot of good information from the hub from guys who have done similar in the past. Like the CX brake levers that go on the top bar and allows you to brake when not on the hoods. I will post photos when completed. Total budget must be about R 25k overall
  5. Hi guys Whats the difference between a Through axle and 12mm Syntace. The Chinese Carbon I'm looking at comes with a TA or QR at the back, want to go bigger/thicker/more stiff that QR so looking at the TA. But on my Pyga atm I have a 12mm Syntace, and I like it. G
  6. hi all Can you guys send me links for Chinese Carbon frames and 29" Carbon Wheels.
  7. My brother and hubber Meezo was just knocked off his bike by 2 coloured guys. happened on turfhall (Opposite softball stadium)road in lansdowne area! at about 5:45 bike missing is his FM098 (chinese carbon thread) kitted with full sram red! will post pics of bike shortly keep a look out!!!
  8. Me and a mate of mine, a devoted MTBer and MTB tech junkie were talking over the weekend. We couldn't help but fall on the topic of the sheer cost and ongoing expense of what the sport of mountain biking has become. Don't get me wrong, I have, I am and I would any day pay the price for this sport I love so much. We have come to justify that paying R500+ for a mountain bike tire is "ok" and surely it is, it has to be. But what other option do we really have? Is there any other option or will we all be sitting on Chinese carbon and home made mods in the end?
  9. I know there is another thread that exists, regarding Chinese carbon copies, but I specifically want information from anyone who has purchased a frame from CyclingYong. a) What is the quality on the frame? b. What were the shipping costs? c) What exactly were the import/customs duties? Any help or information would be greatly appreciated... Edit: Spelling
  10. Hi, I know there is a topic about Chinese Carbon Frames, but people are more discussing road bikes and HT frames. I am looking for information from people that have imported and built up 29er Dual Sus Carbon Chinese Frames, and if possible if anyone has done Trans Baviaans or Cape Epic on one of these frames. Where did you guys purchase and pics of your builds if you don't mind. Thanks
  11. Hi, I'm looking for a size 58 road bike. My budget is about 10k - anything more and I will have to wait a month or two. I don't intend to spend much time on it - will mainly use it for the 94.7 and the occasional road race. My training will mostly be on MTB. What will be good value for money in this range? I don't mind buying second hand. I've looked at the Chinese Carbon thread. That looks like heaps of fun, but a frame and set of rims will already cost about 12k, and that excludes all the accessories.
  12. Hi guys, I know the Chinese carbon parts have been discussed numerous times, and from all your discussions, I'm considering purchasing the following: http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?sbk=1&nav=SEARCH&itemId=321098041808 Has anyone ever purchased any wheels from carbonspeedcycles and if so what were they like? At 1390g for a 50mm clincher set, it's very good value for money. I'm just not sure how stiff they are? In comparison, I have ridden darkhorse wheels before and they flex like crazy! Any advice would be appreciated!
  13. Where to from here. Do I buy a complete bike and use the wheels or should I go Chinese carbon frame and build from there? Can anyone vouch for the Black Spade roads frames at all? This will not be a bike that I ride very often, and am prepared to go to around R30K total if I must, wheels are bought and paid for and don't form part of the budget, bought them first 'cos I got them for R5K.
