  1. Hey OPC Thanks but the above bike is the best I can afford especially if I do get the oppertunity to ride the Sani2c I would have to fork out a further R7k+ so I will be looking over the weekend and hopefully by monday I will be able to come onlib\ne and brag a new set of wheels
  2. I got the waiting entry 648 but lets assume we dont get the option to ride due to over population on the specific race are there any other races like this anyone would suggest its a mate and I who ride socially but are both very competative with each other and others so do enjoy a challange like this, Any suggestions on a different race
  3. Hey LTG I am in a very Similar situation to you also not an avid Mountian Biker but would love to attempt the Sani2c for those of you who have given your opinions on the bikes etc... thank you, I am about to buy myself a bike in the next couple of days and this would then become my bike I have just had a look at the Silverback Sierra hardtail would this be ok for the trip G
  4. So I went on Wednesday after the voting to the Cycle Hub at the rietvlei zoo farm and they let me ride one of there bikes (soft Tail) on the route. and there were places before I didnt want to even attempt but was able to cruise rather freely with the soft tail, but it almost feels like it could get boring So they have said I can ride again on Saterday with one of there hardtails to see which I prefer. With this inmind I started my shopping again to find a Silverback Sierra a bit out of my price but none the less I think from the look of the components a gooood bike Any other opinion on the Sierra good or bad please and I found for R 11k new how does that sound
  5. This is very bad english so I am going to try write it again in English and not Ohh i am excited getting a bik language. The Teocali has no warantee but the Otero does so there for the Otero is the better option as a new bike.
  6. THIS HAS PUT A LOT OF PERSPECTIVE TO MY CHOICE I do ride the road every so often and when I get to 20km i get bored and this weekend I went and rode with mates to the different trials and koppies etc... in melville and surounding areas and of the 40km we did i was alwasy in my element rushing down the embankments, launching over things and riding through the riversthat is a jol As for the Teocali or the 08 Otero I did some research on the frame warantee I dont expect to break the frame but if I do a warantee can not be transfered and I think this is still a big sales pitch to me. I think with all this thought of I may have made my choice PS I am a lazy cyclist and Dont like the long haul
  7. Okay so now I am Completely totally absolutally f$#@ing confused, how can one sport be so complicated I just want a bike, so now that I have had my blow out, so a hardtail would be better to learn on is what every one is getting at and off course the components will be a lot better then the Mongoose I have found or the Kuna Sound about right What about resale values hardtail or soft tail
  8. And this guy has just sent me the following bike detials Kona Kahuna Mountainbike, dual suspension(Manitou lockout front shock), disc brakes, LX derailleur, 18 inch (medium), very good condition. R 6500.00
  9. I have just been offered this: Mongoose Otero is the Super Brown '08 model with Sram X-5 the price is R8200 and we can settle it less 5% for cash.Size medium New bike never been riden from a store
  10. Oh yes anything would be better then the M trax, but it has served me fairly well thus far. As for the weight situation I have never been very worried about the weight of items (I have been on a tank Mtrax for the past year and never noticed the difference) and as for the style of riding I want to do I will be honest and say I only really started to enjoy the Mountain bike when I found and rode the Reitvlei course and for me the touring or rides between obsticles seem like work where down hill and tech is a lot more interesting and keeps my mind busy so I would say I like busy courses.
  11. Ok so basically right now with all the input I have received the Teocali seems to be the formidable answer hands down, (inspection permitting) Does anyone still think I should rather take the R8k and get me a hard tail or perhaps someone out there thinks they have a deal which could beat this let me know please.
  12. Ok so I have just been given some disturbing news and want to get a bit of a better idea on how true or untrue it is a mate just told me he heared that the Mongoose are not very strong frames and there have been a few cases where mongoose has refused to replace or other on broken frames... is there any truth to this matter or has anyone heared of anything like this
  13. 1st thing AFAIK ???? 2nd what should have been standard shocks and why would someone consider changing them or would have changed them. Does anyone else have any other suggestions on which way to go with this Gerard
  14. Would any one suggest I rather take the R 8K and go buy a hardtail for the same amount of money and what would make the Teocali better then the Otero is it all to do with the sets shocks etc... G
  15. Hi guys and girls I have been offered this Mongoose Teocali Comp not sure what year it is it hasnt done very much off road work and seen one trail the guy is asking R8000.00 negotiable what does everyone think It is this or a new Mongoose Otero Elite for about the same price Any suggestions I am a noob and currently riding a Raleigh M Trax so right now anything is an upgrade Gerard

  19. When you say Hard tail does that mean one with out rear shocks and what would the reason be to get one with or with out rear shock if thats what you refer to as hard tail
  20. Hey every one I am not sure if there is already a place for these kind of questions but here it goes. 1. Yes I am new at this hence the questions 2. I know a lot of these questions are going to be answered differently from person to person 3. I have recently started riding bike again in must be over 10 years I am currently using my moms Raleigh M-Trax front and rear shocks etc... very cool bike I have been having a blast with it, I rode this weekend on one of the UGE adventure sprint races it was awsome. S now this is where I ask for your opinions. I would now like to buy myself a bike but dont know what to look for or which is suggested, I prefere the offraod trails but will be doing a lot of on road training I am how ever a bit of a loose canon on the bike if I see any kind of launch I will attempt to get some kind of airtime. I have about R 3000.00 to spend on a bike and dont mind going preowned / loved so what advice does any one have for me and i know right now the best advice would be add some extra cash and buy an awsome carbon frame etc... but we all know it would be awsome to do something like that but flow is low Habib
