  1. Thanks JBK, I'll take it to Thule for them to have a look. It's a good couple of years old, so I doubt that they will have something that works, but worth a try! Failing that I'll just get some ally plate and leave it uncoated.
  2. I would, but mine doesn't have a plate, it's one of those plug-in ones.
  3. Hi Mr. Jacques, I doubt it, the process of annealing only takes place at over 300°C, and judging by the state of the rim tape I don't think that the temperature got anywhere near that. Thanks for the heads-up though, I'll keep an eye on it!
  4. Yup, popped the tyres and melted the rimtape. Lucky I'm still on ally rims .... Hmmm, that's sounds even easier than the welding actually, thanks!
  5. That could work too, thanks! If I don't come right with the deflectors kit or modifying the rack I will give it a go!
  6. Hah! Perfect, thank you Oodles!
  7. Thanks, like I said above I want to leave the car alone, but maybe your guy can weld a plate to the rack, that should work! I'll send you a pm for his number!
  8. Hahaha, it's a Diesel actually!
  9. Nope, Jeep GC
  10. Thanks, but apart from the looks I really don't want to be modifying the car considering warranties and all that ....
  11. Hi All, I've just started riding again, and ended up burning my bike's tyres as they are directly in line with the exhausts on my car! On my old car the exhausts pointed down onto the tarmac, so it wasn't ever a problem. It's an older model Thule 3-bike rack with built-in taillights and I can't really see a way of raising it above the exhausts. I don't want to have to replace it as it's still in great condition and does the job perfectly otherwise. Has anyone else experienced this and found a work-around?
  12. So glad I had a look at the forums, count me in! I sent you a pm!
  13. Hi Rich, sorry for my late reply. Dirty Sanchez and I have been riding the Spruit on Thursday mornings at 07h00, and we are planning to ride on Tuesdays too, not sure if this will be in the morning or the afternoon though. Anyway, pm me you cell # and I'll give you a shout. Cheers, Treb
  14. Whoa, 04h45 is the middle of the night ;P I live just off 12th Ave in Rivonia, so traffic is not really an issue for me because I travel against the the flow. I wouldn't want to start earlier than 06h00, but let's see if there are any more responses, perhaps there could be two groups. Cheers, Treb
  15. Hi All, I'm looking for a group / riders to join on training rides during the week, prefereably 06h30ish for about an hour on Tuesdays & Thursdays. I am flexible though, can be differnet times / days. I used to enjoy the rides from FPC Paulshof when they were still around. Please let me know if you are keen or know of any existing group rides. If there are no existing rides, maybe we can get something started. Cheers, Treb
  16. Eheheh, thanks These pics were taken right after I built it, I've done a bit of work on it since (trimmed the steerer & brake lines, Hope FR Stem & Saint Pedals). I'll take some better pics & post ....
  17. A bit overdue posting this, here's my toy for Farmasutra
  18. I can second that, during my first visit to Mankele my 2-Crap failed right at the very top after the tower, just before you get off the jeep track and drop onto the single track. I think they must have heard me in Sabie .... I had the Dual Position Air fitted after that, no problems since then. Great fork otherwise, the models up to 2010 had issues with the damper leaking, the latest dampers are great. Awesome fork, changed my 575 completely, had a 140mm Revelation before. Well worth the R4k, but I would budget for getting rid of the 2 Step. It should be ok for the first couple of months at least ...
  19. Eheheheh .... ja, the lads were pulling amps I'm outta practice a bit myself, but I recon I'll still make the side as a pinch hitter Sheesh ja, "Hilton by Night" was nogal a PARTAY! Sorry about all the flashing headlights on the way there, my navigator was *ahem* "confused" Now about the midget playing Thunderstuck ....
  20. Note to self: Excessive partying the night before the race = excessive hangover during said race Yours Truly with Brad(JONNIE NAPAAAAAAAAALM!!!!)Hood and kaSSiemier practicing for the "roadblocks" What an awesome event, the trails were sublime!
  21. Kewl, looking forward to it
  22. Oh yeah, will be there from the 21st onwards. Are you going? Will you bring your SS too?
  23. You should be fine with the csixx, the 575 doesn't have ISCG tabs so I have to run an ISCG adaptor that clamps between the BB shell and BB replacing the spacer. As far as I can see the tabs on the Mbuzi are recessed from the face of the BB shell placing the guide more inboard. I'll update my post.
  24. Thanks man, ja, still love her after all these years The csixx is shweet, but what a mission to fit on this bike (or any bike with a 73mm BB and 51mm chainline that doesn't have ISCG tabs as standard for that matter). I had to get an aftermarket ISCG adaptor (DMR) and machine it down by 3mm. This is still the original 32T SLX chainring. Any aftermarket (Hope, etc.) bling chainring will not fit in the csixx chainguide on this bike because they are too wide and the chain rubs on the outer guide Basically the problem is that the guide sits too far outboard, 3mm is all I could take off the DMR adaptor to bring it further inboard. The csixx adaptor supplied can't be machined due to its design, and I didn't want to start cutting my BB shell. All running very smoothly now though Having said all that, I happily run a 2:1 ratio on my SS, and this gives me from 1:1 to 3:1 (more or less) and it's a steel chainring, so I'm ok for now. I'll see how I go, I've only done one short ride so far ....
