    Hi guys/gals. Looking for some help please. Any swimming groups in the Durbanville area? I’m no ironman/triathlete, but I would like to give it a go in a year or two. I would like to join a swimming group in the meantime and I have no idea where to start. Thanks in advance. JH.

    Think it’s good for the market. They have money and facilities. Can’t see why this wouldn’t be a very good fork. Should actually bring their bike prices down.

    As much as I see the potential of the velodrome ( I’ve used it a number of times) we, as the greater cape town cycling community, can only blame ourselves if the demolition goes through. There is next to no interest in track cycling. The few people that race there, usually have very minimal crowd attendance. It’s a nice to have, but the cycling community does not support it adequately.

    A bit of thread revival. I have to call out the three guys riding through a red light this morning on Langeberg rd going to toward Pinehurst in Sonstraal Heights this morning. Without a care in the world you three just blasted through the red light, not even slowing down a little bit, riding two abreast, with one guy in the yellow and the other in the road. One had tiletoria kit and the other Oryx. We all have a collective responsibility to try and change the minds of motorists through our actions. You just reinforced most motorists believe this morning.

    AFAIK, Cycles United is a company on its own, with own staff and premises, collectively owned by the listed bike shops.

    Agree with you on that one. Although they have a set of bolts on the opposite side of the downtube, I’m not a big fan of having a cage there.

    Was in 2A. Not a lot of guys willing to stick their nose in the wind. Sat up after misty cliffs and waited for my grand old man. What a privilege to finish with him. His 25th at age 72 and did a 3:40. The crowd support was awesome. Overall a good day out.

    I had my first car connection this morning. Lady turning right into the lane I was coming down in. Hit the side of the car and rolled off the side. Lucky the bike is ok ????. The body is a bit sore but at least I landed on my feet. Ironically the day I sold my car ( I ride my bike a lot more than my car) is the day I had a collision. Not going to tell the wife. So I thought l’ll share it here with you guys. And still after this incident, I still prefer my bike commute than a car commute. Shame, poor lady was shaken up badly. In the end I was the one comforting her.

    I’m super keen to do these races, but racing against guys doing it for a living seems like a waste of time, personally. I like to be competitive, but there’s just no chance against those guys. They should have a age group/ non pro/ full time working group for the under 30 guys and gals. Just my 2 cents. Maybe then more will compete?

    This is more a wahoo in general question? Is there any way from your side ( Wahoo South Africa) that you can convince Discovery to use wahoo as a official training tool, like they do with Garmin? I’ve requested it numerous times from Discovery to no avail.
