  1. Hey, I've hit the wall on this way of eating... i am missing fruit (havent eaten any tho), haven't stopped sugar in my coffee and have picked up 3kg. I have also stopped training (just for a while, I just dont feel like it and am trying not to make it an issue). I'm not sure how to get back ...
  2. GRONDPAD!!! I didnt realise that you put the post on regarding your baby... thank heavens this forum is "anonymous" because this will shock you, but as i was reading your message is was on my way to an attorney with my husband and another couple - I am going to be their surrogate... So glad you didnt have to go this far because it costs R1000's for these people. Glad to hear LCHF is a good pregnancy way to eat - Tim Noakes said my baby would thank me (ok, not mine, but my little bundle of cargo). Maybe my miserableness this weekend and over the last few weeks has been a build up to today - who knows but I will keep on doing what the body tells me... GOOD LUCK WITH THE PREGNANCY -
  3. Thanks Grondpad - actually went for a slow 1hr road ride yesterday after giving myself a bit of a talking to... it was great and i came home refreshed. But, I have also been around the block enough to know that it could be very different tomorrow. I think the bottom line is that, quite frankly, its just been an INCREDIBLY stressful time (like we all have) over the last few months - maybe just generally tired. BUT YOU ARE KILLER - thanks guys!!!
  4. Yip, definitely eating enough - well put it this way, I'm not hungry. A bit concerned that LCHF isnt ideal during this period, but thats probably just old school thinking. Quite dof, feel like I've put on weight since Thursday...
  5. I know this isnt a psychology forum BUT I need some help. I have been wanting to ditch exercise for a few weeks now - I am SO not interested, I hate the constant fight with myself to go out there and do something (ANYTHING) and I am even more angry when I dont go. I mean, we ALL know, even 20 minutes of HIIT is good enough. I am wanting to simply take a break for a month or 2 but fear the proverbial - fat and unfit...??? Is this just feeling sorry for myself and acting like i dont have Sub A?? Been there?
  6. ok peeps, today is SO not a good day! had a few cocktails in Knysna this weekend (3 to be precise) and a scone today. feel over this and dont know if I can sustain. it feels like i have lost ALL the knowledge i have learnt over the past months and just plain the moering (oops can I say that feel between rock and a hard place. cant go back to old eating but cant sustain this. so upset
  7. No frigging way - 850 calories is almost my daily food allowance...
  8. OK - off topic, BUT Did you know that when Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone he had 3 missed calls from Chuck Norris??? Sorry guys, I just LOVE Chuck Norris jokes...
  9. AAAANNNNNDDDDDD - ridiculous prices - holy freaking cow
  10. Guys, on this fat shake thing - what is the calorie value here though or aren't you worried at the moment (I only ask as i am doing very very VERY little training at the moment)
  11. I really really would love some of these nuts! BUT, I live in PE - sending a courier won't be expensive and it will DEFINITELY work out cheaper than buying in the shops.... what you think??
  12. Am i going mad - I thought Omega 3 was good and Omega 6 bad... correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I'm right on this one...
  13. Smimby, the whole thing is that we are addicted to food - and it becomes a vicious cycle. The more carbs we eat, the more we want, the more it converts to all the bad stuff, the sicker and fatter we get ........ The fat is not only that which is incidental to the food we eat - we cook with things like coconut oil, drink coffee with cream (no sugar ), eat DOUBLE CREAM yoghurt, add olive oil to veg and salads, eat tuna in oil (not brine) etc etc etc. It is a NOWHERE situation from an emotional point of view - we have just not be taught to eat that stuff, just the opposite. But its fun and easy (I am just missing fruit at the moment ) Good luck (and stick with us, we aren't that bad - the odd piece of PMS now and again )
  14. @Smimby I also went to a talk by Tim Noakes recently. He is definitely NOT only talking protein and veg. He gave many examples of what he eats, incl LOADS of eggs (the whole egg), bacon (not lean), cream, etc etc Go to www.dietdoctor.com and read up on LCHF under weight and nutrition... I copied the info into a word doc for a friend, but i dont know how to attache it here... if you want it, PM me with your email address.
  15. Hallo, 2 things : ** I am missing fruit - I feel desperate...?? ** here's a quick recipe for a DIVINE quiche (ok the fancy word is apparently fritatta) (you can basically chuck anything in, but this is what I used last night - peppadews, depipped olives etc would be divine) : - 1 large onion, diced and sauteed in coconut oil - added one diced greenpepper, fry for a minute or 2 - add diced bacon and fry for a minute or 2 - add 1-2 teaspoons of garlic (according to taste) - add punnet of mushrooms, a whole lot of sliced baby marrow, lots of cabbage - fry all for a few seconds - add salt, pepper, paprika or cayenne pepper to tase - Arrange in a pie dish (large, flatish dish) - beat 10 eggs and LOTS of feta. - pour over veggies - bake at 180 for about 40 minutes - serve with green salad YUMMY bake at
  16. So we live and learn - thanks guys - hopefully will feel better later. Nothing a valoid cant fix hey! Dont think I will eat pork chops in a hurry again...
  17. Uhm, not really sure. Its probably more the amount - it must have been too much if I am still feeling a bit sick.
  18. Dont judge me - I'm feeling sorry for myself and want someone to tell me that its ok and I'm actually perfect and I shouldn't worry
  19. Ok, so howz me? I cooked our pork chops so perfectly last night its quite ridiculous. As a result I ate all the fat I could find and now I still feel sick... good - I deserve to feel sick. But alongwith that is this RIDICULOUS guilt feeling... my advice to someone would be just pick up the pieces and carry on today - should I eat zippo's (but I want my creamed coffee )
  20. Guys, you are freaking me out... do you SERIOUSLY check out the ratios of what you eat on a DAILY/Meal-by-meal basis? no frigging way... that's too hard for me. So I guess I can't really say that I am LCHF then? Anyway, someone asked why we would do LCHF if it wasnt to remedy a health situation... I dont have a health issue (other than carb intolerance), but even so - I feel SO much better (and am enjoying the fat on my rump steak AND I am eating lamb for the first time in donkey's years )
  21. BEER yoh bro - that's LIQUID CARBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you are allowed vino though
  22. oi - epilepsy is not cool. I quickly had a look and google is pasted all over with info. The general concensus is LCHF is GREAT for epilepsy. According to Dietdoctor.com, there is 80 years of success with epilepsy and LCHF!!!!!!! Just 2 of the links I found (I just googled "LCHF and Epilepsy") : http://healthimpactnews.com/2011/how-can-a-high-fat-diet-treat-epilepsy/ http://www.indianexpress.com/news/a-low-carb-high-fat-diet-to-fight-epilepsy/764502/
  23. Guess what just came in (re pregnancy on LCHF) ... : "Just carry on. Your child will be much healthier for it. Warm regards, Tim"
  24. Feedback - no word from Prof Noakes on the pregnancy thing yet... I think he may be out of the country. But I've given it some thought - during pregnancy your body usually demands stuff (in my first 2 pregnancies all I could eat was vegetables (lucky - phew!!)) - so it is going to be interesting going forward. BUT - I do still want his opinion though. Regarding the kids stuff - my teenagers are trying LCHF, but I must say, its hard. They follow the principles mostly, but they dont (obviously) do the research as much as we do and they sometimes forget... also, I'm not always around to think up some great foodie ideas (although i try and keep my fridge etc stocked with the right stuff) - so what's easier than chucking some pasta into a boiling pot of water and grating some cheese over it - its like manna to them
