  2. Not doing the race, but just saw this on the Bicycling Magazine Facebook page, looks like it could be a bit windy... Take care everyone. Sorry if this has already been posted.
  3. Let’s find out what this whole “Eagle” thing is all about ????
  4. Needed a new saddle and decided that get a new helmet at the same time. Can't wait to try it out!
  5. Thanks for the advise guys. Opened the shifter and it was bone dry... All greased up now and working like new! Fantastic! At least I saved some cash on that job, but I just discovered that my saddle is cracked... It never ends with this wonderful sport
  6. I agree, would be easier, but I have foam grips and they are a mission to put back on again. Probably have to cut them off and get new ones... Will try with the shifter in place first. Thanks for the advice!
  7. I haven't had a chance to check yet, but would I be able to take the cover off without removing the shifter from the handle bar? Perhaps by loosing the shifter clamp and changing the angle for easier entry into the unit?
  8. Thanks for that, will check my hanger/derailleur and make sure everything is strait before I jump into the shifter.
  9. Thanks guys. I replaced the cable and complete outer this weekend, just before a ride and it's still the same. So I think I'll open her up and see what's going on inside. Was hoping there's another solution because I'll also have to change the grips because it's not the I-Spec shifter that attaches to the brake lever. I'm just hoping there are no broken teeth in there, cant really afford a R1k+ expense at the moment.
  10. Hi guys, I found this old thread regarding servicing XT shifters and was wondering if spraying lubricant into the shifter would help with my problem... I have a XT M8000 11 speed shifter which is giving my some problems. It's very difficult to shift up without going up two or three gears at a time, shifting just one gear is almost impossible. Is there any way of calibrating these shifters? Shifting down is also not as smooth as it used to be. Would spraying lube into the shifter help, or will it just dry out whatever grease is in there at the moment? Is it worth opening it up and checking inside, or is it a impossible task putting it back together again? The shifter has about 5000km on it. Thanks.
  11. Hi guys and gals, Just saw that onedayonly.co.za are running some specials on Merrell kit, in case anyone was interested. What is the Merrell kit quality like?
  12. Just got this delivered. Pushing up the granny gear and with the 34t chainring instead of my current 32t I should have a little bit more top-end too. Cant wait for the test ride. Edit : Forgot to mention, the guys from Rapide are great!
  13. 2 days after doing the Berg100, didn't have time for pictures during the race :-) What a beautiful country we live in!
  14. Holla trails Holla trails
  15. Some more Giba niceness
  16. Yup, just wish the guys would get around to trimming all the trails, got a few wacks on the helmet from low hanging branches. It's a big area, so we'll give them some time [emoji4]
  17. Giba Gorge, so much of niceness.
  18. Will this affect the Trailblazer ride in December?
  19. Courier just collected these, hopefully haev it all on Monday/Tuesday :-) 11 - 42 and 32 up front. Bringing back my granny gear!!
  20. Been thinking about the viability of changing from my Edge 810 to the 520... I like the size of the 520. Anyone have first hand experience of how they compare?
  21. Thanks, didn't know I could do that. Will do so now.
  22. I've also just had an experience with a guy that said he wanted to look at my wheelset that I'm trying to sell. We met and he looked at them, he made up his mind on the spot and said he'll take them. I had to meet him later because he wanted to get cash first from the ATM, no problem. Later came and before I could leave home he phoned me and came up with some BS about his card only being able to withdraw R2000, even when the wheels are for sale for R2000. Ok, maybe he needs bus fare or something... All good. The next day he made up some excuse not to meet, and the next day I had to contact him to find out where/when we would meet. Then he tells me that he got another wheel, very sorry. Three days later he backs out of the deal. It's only R2k, but its the principal of the matter. I gave hime a negative comment and he came back with a negative comment on me. So now it shows on my score, even though he backed out on the deal. What now, is it worth making a comment after all when it reflects bad on you in the end even if it's not your wrong doing?
  23. Thanks. No multi plug just yet, I have a solid metal work bench where I do all my cutting and drilling, the multi plug is on that. The vise grip for those pesky pedals is on the other bench too :-)
  24. Thanks for the advise, the one hanging is an old a one that I just didn't want to throw away because it still works ok. The new one is stored in the blue box on the top shelf with plunger removed and in a zip lock bag
