Does that gate also open at 7am? Is there usually a queue there too?

I know its a long shot but is there any way of working around the 7h30am opening time to get started a little earlier? Like can you maybe park outside and ride in on your bike and pay later or something? Alternatively does anyone have any suggested routes to knock off an hour on the bike outside the reserve while waiting for it to open (and where would you suggest parking then)?

Its not massively technical but it is at altitude, and has one monster climb towards the end.

There is a bike shop in Lydenburg (Mashishing) about 30mins from Dullstroom. Never been there myself but always see it when I drive past.

I usually ride there in the weekdays after work. Been doing it at least once a week (sticking to the road) for a good 18 months. Depending on what you want to do (hill repeats or just pass through once) after 5pm might be a bit late this time of year with it getting pretty dark around 6pm. I always try get out of there before it starts to get dark. But with summer approaching and the days getting longer I'd say its definitely fine for a midweek post-work ride and you'll probably see me (and usually a good 5-10 other cyclists/runners) there. I take pepper spray anyway but so far I've never had to use it.

Marathon for me, starting batch C. Looking forward to it.

I came out of last year's marathon a little violated. Need to go back there to conquer my daemons but cant make this one. Good luck to everyone, that ride will really test you.

Soon hip-hop stars will be wearing these things.

Not much feedback about how this event went down? I unfortunately had to miss it but always like to hear what everyone makes of these events, especially the ones I haven't yet gotten round to doing myself.
