  1. Hi Timo Happy to hear that Jacques is staying, without him there would be big trouble, best mechanic in town in my opinion. Good luck and I'll see you at my next service.
  2. It was awesome to ride alongside you guys, even after all of your mechanicals you guys were still in good spirits, we really enjoyed riding with you guys last week. Good luck for your future events and stick with Maxxis tyres and go Shimano XTR next time ????, I never even had so much as gear slipping last week, was very lucky. Brian and Wynand - Team Windovert
  3. I definitely think it's worth it, although initially it is a bit of admin, you need the correct rims, proper rim tape like Stans yellow tape (don't use the grey Ryder type tape, doesn't work at all). Definitely DON'T recommend Shwalbe PRO One EVO Tubeless, I had nightmares with these, punctures like never before. Now I use Hutchinson Fusion 5 Performance 11 Storm 28C which have been amazing, only 1 puncture that the sealant sealed up. I have found Herschell Extreme Tyre Sealant to work well, about 40mm per tyre. Good luck.
  4. I personally think they should have just stuck to the entry level stuff, as cyclists (especially roadies) are so brand centric that I cant see anyone rocking up with a pair of R 2000 Sportsmans Warehouse First Ascent bibs when he's swinging his leg over a Specialized Venge. The guys want Italian stuff and if you are clever you can bring those brands in from overseas for the same price when they are on sale, even after duties etc, or just wait for local sales. I know locally there was a recent price war on Assos T.Mille S7's for R 2200 and for R 200 more it's a no brainer, even if these Podiums are technically better than the Assos, 9/10 people would pay the extra R 200 for the Assos. Good luck to them and I hope they succeed but I have my doubts.
  5. I'm sold on Tubeless for road, wheels definitely feel like they roll better and you can run slightly lower pressures, I ride 5.5 or 6 bar. Initially had Schwalbe Pro One EVO 28c and they were an absolute disaster with punctures and were starting to wear out quickly. Cuts so big that the sealant never worked. They did roll amazingly well though. Changed to Hutchinson Fusion 5 Performance 11 Storm 28c and have not looked back, they seem just as fast and no punctures at all. My take on it is if local agents don't have what you are looking for at the price you would like to pay, then simply bring them in, at the moment they are half the price if you import them and even with shipping and a small amount of duties, STILL end up around 15% cheaper than what you can get locally and most bike shops still don't sell 28c. In my opinion 28c the way to go, super comfortable and I doubt if they are any slower than 25c.
  6. First port of call support your local bike shop, if they are too expensive or don't have what you want and you cant find it anywhere then go to www.bikecomponents.de, a German crowd that are much cheaper than Chainreactioncycles and their service is amazing. They DHL for €20 and you'll have your stuff in about a week.
  7. Stolen: Cervelo S5 2019 When: 25 September 2018 Where: Sandton, Gauteng This bike was recovered from the fenced off area on Hamilton Avenue Bryanston. The bush has recently burnt down to reveal what was a peach of a road bike. I assume this was stolen and tossed into the bushes to be recovered at a later stage, wondering what happened. If this was yours please let me know. Get further details about the incident in the Stolen Bikes section
  8. Kit looks horrendous but I suspect this is for a reason as it's already creating a talking point which is free marketing for them, so well done!
  9. Garmin 910 xt , do some google reviews it's the best by far, I can vouch for this.
  10. I've found that silicon tape works the best, easy to remove if need be, you don't spend hours trying to remove excess glue on the rim that gets left behind when you remove the old rim tape, and seals brilliantly, also pretty cheap at around R60 which is good for both wheels.
