  1. Has anyone ridden this bicycle before? I am asking more about the new fork and rear shock from Fox that uses the new Live Valve technology. I would love to know what your experience was riding this bicycle with emphasis on the fork and shock. How was the setup, any issues? How was your riding? Did the technology work as expected? I am in 2 minds regarding this bicycle because it is new tech for a bicycle and it looks bulky with regards to the unit and the wiring. Is it worthwhile getting a bike with it now, or rather wait for more iterations of the unit? Here is the link to the bicycle: https://www.giant-bicycles.com/za/bikes-anthem-advanced-pro-29-2019
  2. I was wondering why you would choose Scott's HMX SL carbon frame over the HMF carbon frame? Just for reference, here are 2 mountain bikes that make use of these 2 frames: SCOTT SCALE RC 900 SL BIKE https://www.scott-sports.com/za/en/product/scott-scale-rc-900-sl-bike?article=269720008 SCOTT SCALE RC 900 PRO BIKE https://www.scott-sports.com/za/en/product/scott-scale-rc-900-pro-bike?article=269722007 If both frames had the exact wheelset and groupset on, what benefit would the HMX SL frame give over the HMF frame? If you were blind folded would you be able to notice the difference? I'm not a pro, but i do long distance riding and trail riding, that's about it. I'm competitive n my group, but not a pro. The pro bicycle has a horrible brown and red colour to it! I would love to hear your opinions.
  3. Hi all, I would like to thank everyone (cyclist and non-cyclist) that was at Delene's memorial ride. It was a great success and I know that awareness was made on Saturday 18 February 2017. I tried to greet and thank everyone for attending. I know I skipped a lot of you but I tried my best to come and greet and introduce myself to everyone. Sorry if I missed you - it was hard keeping a straight face. There was about 130 odd cyclists from all over the Western Cape. Some even cycled from Durbanville/Brackenfell with their bicycles to attend the ride. Delene's father cycled all the way from Malmesbury to the venue. We had some cyclists that started late due to other commitments but at least they completed the route. Thank you to the traffic department for helping us out on the day and insuring our safety. Thank you to the motor cyclists (Zool and my sister Elzabe and Riaan) for roaring behind the group and blocking off traffic at certain intersections. Thanks to all those that drove behind us. Thanks for the people that sponsored the energy drinks at the end (I hope everybody had one), Thanks to Delene's family for helping out on the day of the ride. But most thanks should go to Johan van Staden and the support of his wife, they organised everything for this day to take place - they need a gold medal each for this. I lost a life partner, best friend and cycling buddy on 14 January 2017 - it was the darkest day of life (and still is) but I will press on. How I will train and race without her is going to be hard. She was the one that always motivated and pushed me and her father to be better and stronger cyclists. She taught us how to cycle, event though she has been doing it for a fraction of the time that I have been doing it. We are what we are today because of her. We cycled almost everyday of the week for the last 4-5 years. Now going forward with no Delene behind me - but I will carry her in my heart like I always do. These memorial rides are very important and they should be done on a continual basis irrespective if someone has passed away or not. Roads need to be shared by motorists, cyclists, pedestrians, runners and many others. It is no longer just for motorists. People need to be aware of other people. Once again guys, thank you for Saturday! PS: Please connect with me on Twitter (@brendanvogt) or on Facebook (www.facebook.com/brendan.vogt.7). Brendan
  4. PPA didn't do a thing - we organised it. They just said that they supported the ride - that was it from their side. Traffic officials and advertising (free and paid) came from our side.
  5. Thanks alot Tubehunter. Please come and join us for the memorial ride? Here are the details for the ride: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/166295-memorial-ride-for-delene-boonzaaier-18-february-2017/ It would be much appreciated.
  6. It's Saturday 18 February 2017. Here is the post to the memorial ride: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/166295-memorial-ride-for-delene-boonzaaier-18-february-2017/
  7. Ja she was a strong rider - she could climb as if the road was flat. Not sure who you are but would like to meet up with you. Your time on Saturday is appreciated - thanks alot.
  8. I'm Delene's boyfriend. She left Paarl for a cycle on 14 January 2017. She went through Wellington on her way to Hermon, and would have met her dad at Malmesbury, They would have cycled to the four way stop, back to Wellington, Hermon and then would have stopped at du Vlei for breakfast. I stayed at home that morning as I was feeling fluish and would have gotten them at du Vlei. About 10km outside Wellington she was struck by a car and died. I came looking for her and came across her body already covered up by the police. It was the darkest day of life. The police didn't want me to see her, but I was allowed to sit next her after many attempts of trying to get close to her. It's been the hardest 4 weeks of my life so far - everyday I have to face life and our cycling rides alone without Delene. She was an yster and was my driving force to be a better cyclist - although I could never beat her in any race. At this point in time the is no further news regarding the investigation. I would like to ask that every one stay away from any speculation as this is all that is available at the moment.
  9. I have posted details on the ride in the Safe Cycling group - check it out. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/166295-memorial-ride-for-delene-boonzaaier-18-february-2017/
  10. I'm Delene's boyfriend. There is no evidence that he was using his phone as of yet.
  11. Hi Breezer. Send me a private message. Would like to catch up with you. It's me Brendan, Delene was my girlfriend. Not sure if you are on her Facebook? Lets chat there, here? Where ever
