  1. Came right... LHS Clockwise. RHS Anti Clock. This must have been on the hub a 1000 times...
  2. Damn, My common sense tell me I need to take the left hand pedal and remove by taking the spanner clockwise. Is this correct? I'm stuggling my *&& off to get the pedal moving... Any help this time of night?
  3. Hi, I am looking at doing the Freedom Challenge's section from PE to Prince Albert. I will be starting somewhere around the 17th of December, should I decide to do a motorcycle trip to Namibia starting on the 27th. I am quite flexible, and are looking for people who would like to join (even if only for sections). I am also considering toing the Rock Pedal classic, and then only to do the route. Should I be mad enough (or get partners for certain sections), I would even consider the 14 nights route to Cape Town (from PE). I am not training for Cape Epic. I am relatively fit, with no fixed holiday plans... I have attached the shorter itinerary. PM me should you be interested. Start<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> PE 0 Middelwater 80 DAY 1 Cambria 45 DAY 2 Studtis 80 DA 3 Makkedaad Grot 40 DAY 4 Willowmore 40 DAY 5 Rondawel 96 DAY 6 Prince Albert 70 DAY 7
  4. Hi Guys & girls. Well done to the guys (and the one girl) at the front of C batch. I also tried to keep up with the front group for the first 20+ kays, but the work at the front had me gasping for air and unfortunately dropped off to recover a bit. Fortunately I finished 20th (initial results) in batch C, but what annoys the living daylights out of me is guys sitting at the back, not doing any effort at the front. When the front group dropped me, I tried to rally a few guys to catch them, but to no avail. In the end it was between about four guys (me included) to do all the chasing for the rest of the C batch. Thanks to those guys. And those that thanked me for the pace at the front, I did not really appreciate it. A real catch 22. Thanks for the compliment, but why didn't you try to lead for only 30s every few minutes. In road racing its all about the bunch and teamwork. One of my training buddies hanged on to dear life to finish 10th (in C) at the front. Great ride!! Wrt the 2nd timing mat, it must happen. With Jock we notified the organisers as well that we started 15km into the race (105km - no directions to start), and that they had to remove our results. They did comply. In the end a nice weekend. Of course the MTB race was fast and enjoyed it a lot more than the road. But in the end, a great weekend of cycling!
  5. My condolences to Estelle, their family and friends. I did not know him, but are truly saddened by this. May you find refuge at God's feet, and may you allow Him to put His arms around you and carry you through this testing time.
  6. I'm a member of ROAG (just as it is so much easier), but only rode one of their events, the Sani2C. I also do not agree that they only use ROAG events, as it is a bit limited. For us here in Gauteng the MTN series is definitely a better indication and I support you guys. Hope you can influence their way of thinking. We have so many different database systems and timing chips, that it is quite annoying... I know it is a commercial thing, but surely CSA should start to use our membership money and hammer down some standards or guidelines (at least).
  7. HR, Will see you guys (and gals) on Sat and Sun... (Un)fortunately running the Two Oceans half first, then rushing off to airport for Durbs... Should hook up for a beer or two!

    Hub Ride

HR, I will remember this ride firstly for one thing: Holy Roller. This was your ride!!!! Thanks for all the smiles you brought to us. Sorry to hear about the bike. I am sure everyone enjoyed the trip. Looking forward at the next ride in the area! Have a great week, guys and gals!
  9. Thanks for the ride yesterday! It was nice to finally put some names to some faces. Might not have been correct, but sure will recognize a few faces from now on. Will definitely not forget HR... Thanks for the entertainment! A really nice bunch of people! Next time I will stay longer and have something to eat and drink. Surely sad to have missed meeting Mathilda. Mandibles, EB sent her regards. Wanted to attend, but could'nt make it. I'm in for the Spruit. Thanks again!
  10. Well done in completing. Saw a lady that was blown off her bike during one of the downhills just after Suikerbossie. And this was 10:30. Another oke was also licking his wounds about 100m before the lady. With the skill level generally decreasing (please note generally) the later the groups start, I do think that the organizers were getting worried for being sued if they did not do something. Well done again! It will only get better.
  11. Jip, What an experience! It does not happen that I wonder within the first 100m what I am doing at a race (it usually happens much later in a race)... but it happened yesterday. Unfortunately I can say that the PB I was aiming for never materialized, and this time with a road bike vs my previous rides on a MTB. At least I survived... .. and have an experience of wind I never had before. Never again will the N14 wind on 94.7 be classified as tough... I really do feel for the people that was stopped with about 10km to go. In their condition it must have been extremely tough to battle the 90+ kms, just to be stopped before the end.
  12. Mandibles, As you are the founding member. I will not be able to braai with you guys and girls afterwards... Might have a drink or two. One of my friends is celebrating her birthday with a brunch. Luckily late enough for a ride and some social time in Groenkloof.
  13. Started only in M (Adventure) on day one, moved up about three batches for day 2, but due to technical problems in the first 10 kays lost all of the benefits, and waited about 45mins in line just after Nick's Pass due to all the mud. I also believe that the other races should follow this example. It made the race much more enjoyable whilst cycling with cyclist with same amount of skill/training/fitness...
  14. What an awesome experience! We survived! And enjoyed it 100%!!! A guy in the adventure 'race' won an adventurous award (or something similar) for wheeling the lenght of one of the bridges on day 1 . There was a long winding one and a short straight one. The floating bridge on day 3 was later straightened by the officials after too many guys were taking a dive... but it was great fun to watch. Just some special mention to the eldest team on the Adventure race: Average age 78. They finished both the first and second day, but are not too sure about day three... Does anyone know? They weren't mentioned on Friday afternoon's prize giving. Then the blind guy finishing the race on the tandem with his dad (or uncle)... and on day 3 I saw the cyclist with the one arm (with the racing snakes)... My hat off to these guys! Will also download some of my photos! WOW, WOW, WOW... never ever had so much single track... WOW...
  15. Jagwil, I am also available to help where I can. Also do not have anything more than a 'kettie', so I will follow the KGB, aka the Russian's example... :-)
