  3. Hey guys So my LOOK KG 96 is 95% complete! I still need to get a Dura Ace 7400 series headset and rear hub. Im using some 600 parts at moment so the LOOK can be enjoyed. I have the Dura Ace levers which aren't on the bike at the moment but will be on shortly after I refurb a Cinelli stem I want still use on the LOOK. So here is a picture of the LOOK at the moment.
  4. I agree completely with you tracknut, SA made frames are really underrated, I've had an Alpina with Reynolds 753 tubing and a Mcintosh with Columbus TSX tubing the craftsmanship where incredible. That's why to me events like the Tour of Aae is so brilliant http://www.tourofarae.co.za/about/.
  5. Hi guys So this my progress so far on my Look kg96 build. I'm using dura ace 7400 7sp parts. My goal is not to have a 100% perfect restoration / period specific bike, but rather "handed down from my dad" vibe. I have most of the the parts except the bb, headset and rear hub. Which I'm after so if you have any of it perhaps laying around I would like to take it off you hands. I'm using Itm bars with 105 levers at the moment. I have dura ace levels but the one hood is cut so looking out for some replacments. My idea is to eventually get a cinelli bar and stem combo with the dura ace levers. Also I using a miss match wheel set, dura ace front hub with Mavic rim and a 600 rear with a Ambrosia Colnago excellence rims. So hopefully soon I will have a pair of dura ace hubs laced to Mavic or even Wolber rims. This is my first serious build so I'm still learning, so some input and ideas would be appreciated. Thanks Dan
  6. Now that's what I'm talking about! Can't wait to see it finished.
  7. @quintonb - no worries, i more than likely going to need the freewheel body when I find a dura ace rear hub!
  8. Hey quintonb - I don't have a dura ace rear hub,I only have a front one at the moment. Going to use a shimano 600 6402 rear hub in the meantime. I don't think the dura ace freewheel body will work.
  9. Hey quintonb - I don't have a dura ace rear hub,I only have a front one at the moment. Going to use a shimano 600 6402 rear hub. Do you think the dura ace 7sp freewheel body will fit it?
  10. @ javadude - Thanks for the link ???? @heyyou - I think setting the RD limit screw would be the easiest to do. I didn't even think about that....
  11. Thanks for the info guys. I have 7sp dura ace 7400 groupset which I want too use. So i want to use the 7sp down tube shifters, thats the main reason i want to use 7sp cassette. I dont know if there is a way to use the 7sp shifters with the 8sp cassette? The other option is just buy a wheel with a 7sp cassette. So does anyone have a 7sp dura ace or 600 rear hub they wanting to sell? Thanks
  12. Hi guys I have a technically question I hope someone can answer. I've been looking around on the net haven't found much on it. I have a shimano 600 (FH 6402) rear hub with an 8sp hyperglide cassette I think this model is hyperglide and Uniglide compatible. I want to know if I a 7sp hyperglide cassette will fit? Thanks Dan
  13. Hi all So I'm building up a Look KG 96 with Dura Ace 7400/7401 part. I'm still looking for some parts headset, bb and brake lever hoods. Does anyone know were I can get these parts locally?
  14. Hey guys My Alan is finished. Let me know what you think? Next project is to use an old step through road frame and build my wife a single speed. Then to build another fixed gear road bike so I can convert the Alan back into a track bike.
  15. hi guys my fixie project is a1982 Alan record track frame which im building into a street fixie. its going to have the following on it. - itm special track bars - campagnolo head set and seat post - Halo areo track rear wheel (will be running a 19t track sprocket on the side and a 17t on the other side) - San Marco regal saddle - terko front brake - hansom 708 drilled fork sprayed black - hopefully a black FSA velo track crank 48t - 23c tyres - im still trying to get an old campagnolo front hub. So not to sure what my front wheel will be yet. hope to have it up and running soon, will post a photo once completed.
  16. The the frame I'm using is an old Alpina racing bike. I have a lot clearance. Think I'm going to go with 23c in front and back. Thanks for all the input.
  17. thanks for the info tumbleweed!
  18. @ pietas - i want to be able to ride the bike on paths, pavements, roads, in wet condition etc. I wont be doing any cyclocross or anything like that. just want a stable bike in most coniditions. im not so worried about speed, just want a nice comfortable bike to ride and enjoy. @ tumbleweed - i have no clue on tyre pressures and what would be a good tyre pressure. Like i mentioned i just want a bike that handles well.
  19. Hi guys Need some advice. I want to change the size of my tyres on my fixie. Im currently ridig a 700 23c on the rear and a 700 20c in the front. I was thinking of getting a 700 25c for the rear and then moving the rear tyre to the front. Will this improve the road handling? Or should i go even bigger to a 28c? Thanks Dan
