  1. I’m not taking about high end mountains bikes. I’m just talking about general bikes, like commuter, leisure, supermarket chain store bikes etc. The thread is, are 26er dead?. So the answer is no. But with regards to professional and serious cyclist then I would say yes, but then again there are still many who would discuss agree. Also it depends on what type of riding you do, dirt jumping is different to cross country. You would use a different type of bike and wheel size generally.
  2. 26er are still alive and probably makes up most of the sales in countries like China, India, we’ll basically Asia and other African countries. We are sold the idea of 29er is new, modern, better by clever marketing. Which is true in some areas and not in others. In my opinion a 5ft person is better suited to a 26er then a 7ft person, where as a 29er better for a taller person then a shorter person. Then you have to look at the discipline, rider style and just personal preference. I’ve just built up a 1994 Trek singlestrack to go have fun with on my local trails. The hardest thing to find is good quality 26er tyre now a days. But that being said most suppliers are battling to get stock of any size tyre at the moment.
  3. Have a look at the Rook Scout. It is in your price range. https://rookcycles.com/collections/rook-scout
  4. Hi Has anyone fitted the KCNC cassette to a Hope XD driver? I know the e13 needs a special spacer for the Hope XD driver, wondering if the KCNC does to? Im considering putting one on my gravel bike. I want to run a 46t up front and KCNC on the rear.
  5. Awesome, Shaun built me a fork for my Ragley a couple years back. He has just made me a fork my track bike. His work is brilliant!
  6. Hi So this is my SSCX/ Tracklocross bike It’s an All city Big Block the frame was designed to be an urban track bike that clears 32c tyres. The idea was to have a bike that be used for commuting but also handle some walk paths and gravel roads. My mate Sean thought that fitting 35c Schwalbe g-one would be a good time and they just fit with enough clearance that there is no rubbing taking place. Parts used for the build - Wheels are Mavic open pro’s which I converted to tubeless and hubs are flip flop goldtec hubs with 15t track sprocket and 17t white industries freewheel. - Paul MTB crank with a 39t chainring - Paul canti levers and Shimano long reach calipers - Thomson stem and seatpost - csixx carbon bars - classic flite ti saddle - natch feed bag This bike is some much fun to ride and quite comfortable on the gravel.
  7. I was lucky to find a Ritchey ascent breakaway. I must say one of the best bikes I’ve ever owned!
  8. Hi all I want to start a thread dedicated to Gravel, CX, Touring and All road bikes, and even MTB gravel conversions. A one stop place to post photos of bikes, project builds, diy solutions and basically anything related to the topic. So to start off the thread here is my latest build. Specialized Sequioa Expert. The reason I choose the Sequoia was because I got a really good deal on it. Wasn't my first choice, but it's really grown on me. Parts I used on the rebuild are as follows - HED Belguim rims laced to Hope hubs - Paul Sram adapter with a Sram 1x11 GX setup - 40t Sram series s 1x crankset - Cane creek compact brake levers - Yokozuna Motoko brake calipers. Now lets see yours....
  9. Hi Stretched, need a rigid fork for a touring bike project. Thanks for the offer.
  10. Hi all, Hope someone is able to help. Looking for a 26er 1-1/8” fork with a 230mm steerer. Please let me know if you have one laying around, need it for a retro MTB project. Thank you in advance.
  11. Cool, don’t mean to step on toes. I’ll repost on that thread.

  13. Hi Does anyone know if a Shimano XTR M-950 rear hub is 10speed compatible? I hub currently has a 9 speed cassette and now want to add a 10 speed cassette on it for a touring bike project. Thanks
  14. I know this is a very silly question.... But going to ask it anyway. Any one keen on selling there large Cotic Solaris ?
  15. Thanks Monark, appreciate the kind words.
  16. Thanks. Yeah you need to, don't know why you haven't yet?!.
  17. So I had a custom fork made for my Ragley TD-1 by Shaun Weber from Storm cycles in cape town. Shaun used True Temper tubing and paragon DT Swiss thru axle drop outs. I also got a new front wheel built up with a Paul thru axle hub by the guys at Sprocket and Jack. I still need to save up for some Thomson bars to finish it off bike once and for all.... (hopefully)....
  18. This is my very blue Vitus 979 I finished a couple weeks back.
  19. I would love to, but not going to make it....
  20. So added gears to my Singular Peregrine. I'm now running a 1x11 setup. Ive used an 11speed SLX RD and SLX 11speed 11-46t cassette paired with Rivendell silver barred shifter (friction). Its works really well, pretty impressed with how well it shifts.
  21. It should work fine, you might have to play around with the B-screw etc. I've been thinking of using a fiction barend shifter with a 11 spd SLX RD. There is a guy (Ultra Romance) in the States running an eagle 12spd RD with a fiction brand shifter. But he had to make modify the shifter alittle with a grinder... http://theradavist.com/2017/01/benedicts-2020-s-works-fuse-ultra-baja-buggie/#1 Im running a 40 - 19 ratio at the moment.
  22. Cool, what width rims are you going to running them on? The woodchoppers 2 are super comfy and helps with handling over the rough stuff.
  23. They the Maxxis ramblers 40c and they are awesome! I got the bar and some other parts with the frame when I bought the bike.
