Just saw a bunch of Songo riders on road bikes in Stellenbosch being guided by a white dude, go straight over a red traffic light on the R44 at Die Boord Spar! Really, what are we teaching these youngsters about rules, obeying these rules and why, not to mention the fact that as cyclists we are always under attack for this type of behavior! To that guy who has their future in his hands, who I would assume cares enough to give up his time to ride and guide these guys, not good enough dude! You get a double thumbs down from me!! :thumbdown:

Being a Stellies local, we pay our yearly subscriptions and ride Jonkershoek at least once a week. What is starting to irk me, is that it seems not much is being done with the monies received by MTO forrestry's to maintain the tracks! MTB is booming out of control and with access to riding spots either closing down or getting very expensive, more and more people( including the trail runners) are now using places like Jonkies, resulting in tracks being way over used! Canaries 1,2 and 3 have got so bad, it is now better to go up them then down!!! I suggest that MTO really start using monies gained frm us MTBers to make Jonkies a MTB paradise that it can be. Many more new tracks are required so as to spread the load. Come on guy's, let's get Jonkies back on track.

If you are a good cyclist and have ability you will not be riding the 30K but the 60k!! If you are riding the 30K for the same reason I was riding the 15K, to be with my daughter and to show her why I love the sport so much, then you will be in no hurry and hopefully have no need to be rude! It is the wannebees with no talent that seem to be the rudest of all! Think of the kids and lets show them how human beings should behave!!

Have just completed the Stellenbosch MTB race today with my 12 Year old(15km) and I must say I am most disappointed with the behaviour of older cyclists. I regard myself as an experienced cyclist, having ridden bikes for the past 25 years and when you see older cyclists pushing and shoving little ones off their bikes to get past and complete the 30km,YES 30KM,I get rather upset. If this is the example that we are setting the youngsters in general and especially the youngsters coming into cycling, no wonder you see teenagers doing the same!! People in general need to behave and get some manners, otherwise we are bound to raise the next generation being a bunch of thugs!
