Crit series happens every Wed night? Keen to join next week.
  2. Has anyone been successfully re-seeded yet?
  3. Heard the announcer asking if anybody had a spare thru axle. You are one lucky man! I thought you'd never find one. Chris sounds like a true legend.
  4. Jersey pockets. Never been a fan of a saddle bag dangling about under the saddle. Stage races included.
  5. Are you sure about this?
  6. If they didn't cross the line 1,2 and 3 they didn't come 1,2, and 3. AFAIK there was some sort of seeding taken into consideration. Those who were serious enough would have contested said seeding to get a better start time to contest for a podium. Unfortunately, if you started in Z and got a faster than time than A, it doesn't affect the outcome. Winners are first three across the line.
  7. Enjoyed it last year. Tough and hot. However, I will give Trailseeker a go this year.
  8. Felt pretty weak all week from food poisoning but did it anyway owing to FOMO Not my best result and the course wasn't 34T friendly but still cracked a top 35 by the looks of it in the 60km - read 64km - route with a 3:19 at 19.2kph. Mud was crap in places and a few bottlenecks in the last 5km but this is a family event after all. Good fun.
  9. Can you PM me your number so I can get her to send you a message? Thanks
  10. Hi Maru, my wife is interested in a lady DC team. She's strong. Have you found a team?
  11. Looking forward to this. Doing it in an all-mountain bike team with full knobblies. going to be fun.
  12. Update: I've done extensive testing on the 1x11 with 34T ring. Biggest test was Nissan Trailseeker #2 in Grabouw. 75km/1800m climbing. Coped fine, monstered the climbs and finished well. 55th/401. I'm going to keep it. I guess my reasonably low weight of 67kg to go with the 9.8kg bike is a good combination.
  13. At this point, it's just a matter of getting the kms in the legs rather than doing dirt. I do plenty gravel and trails when I can. Up to 6000km for the year already
  14. Great event and good challenge. Don't think the route was tough, but the icy conditions really hurt me in the beginning. My Garmin was showing -2degrees. Took a while to warm up the legs. As for the extra 7km: s**t happens but I wasn't exactly smiling, was just looking for that finish line.
  15. Ladies A-Group starts just after A group men. Nice to see the elite ladies getting their own start.
  16. Batchings are available on the site now. I'm B.
  17. Cool, pre-race batching still not available on SA-Seeding site.
  18. Is there a mass start or different batches for the 70km?
  19. I hear you BUT, there's not much dirt here in the WC that can telly up 130-180km. We're using MTBs on road to get some distance in the legs and TITS. It's better than nothing...
  20. Here's my GT Zaskar Carbon 9er Pro hardtail. Full XX1 1x11 groupset 34T Wooltooth ring XT brakes XT pedals FRM carbon bar FSA carbon seat post Fizzik Tundra2 saddle Rockshox Reba dualAir fork American Classic wheels Vitoria Barzo front, Maxxis Ikon rear tyre combo 10kg on some scales, just under 10kg on others. Will post better pics soon
  21. The Contermans Mast climb double up to the Bloemendaaler is not easy. Dorsberg is a good test when it comes to a short power climb. The Hillcrest steep climb is another one that springs to mind but it's 450m long.
  22. I'll give it a chance for sure.
  23. Sram XX1 love it. I think I'll give the 34T a chance. Big test will be Trailseeker marathon in Grabouw. Until then, I'll keep trying all the monster climbs in Durbanville Hills and see how I cope.
  24. So I've just upgraded to 1x11 from 1x10 (11-42) with 32T. Was very happy with the 1x10. Climbs were great but lacked the top speed on the flats. The 1x11 is amazing. Ratios smoother, shifting more precise and crisper. Decided to put a 34T up front for extra top speed but now the granny (if you can call it that) is pretty tough - obviously. I'm handling it at the moment conquering some steep, tough climbs but want to know what your experiences are and what I might expect on longer rides/races. Should I go back to 32?
  25. Looks like a typo. Probably 1900m. going to hurt with the 34T i just put on...
