    Karoo to Coast

Chips were built into boards. Nobody could ride without a board. No orange chips were used in the race.
  2. Thanks man - we havne't officially met.
  3. Tough terrain but I'd say very clsoe the best MTB stage race in the country in terms of route and course marking. It was hard on a hardtail
  4. 18 333km 730h 21m 228 423m 440 rides
  5. New route cuts out Van Schoors and heads for an extended stint on the N7. Interesting
  6. Yoh that sounds rough! Must have been horrific. Heal up dude - pass on my regards please.
  7. What are the nature of the injuries? I wondered what happened to him.
  8. Some good points. Carbon wheels are fine - no issues. it comes down to tyre (tire) choice and making sure your sealant is topped up after every stage. Book a service package - it's a must. I've used Vittoria Barzo 2.25 29er rubber in both Epics I've participated in - no issues.
  9. Was told on Monday by the Doc no K2C. 10-day antibiotic for a secondary sinus infection
  10. Good job man. You were the only other guy helping up front. Still remember: "Are we going to breakaway today?" We should have...
  11. Zwift. Was a life-changer for me after my injury in June. I dislocated my elbow and fractured my radius. Spent 6 weeks (5 weeks actually) in a cast and used a number of different Smart Trainer IDT set-ups - Tacx Flux and Vortex, Cycle Ops Hammer and Wahoo Kickr. While the direct-mount trainers were the best and offered the most 'natural' feel and most accurate power readings, the Tacx Vortex was the most affordable set-up and wasn't too bad from a power reading perspective (you do occasionally get wheel slip, but I ran lower pressure and got some heat into the tyre before starting workouts) . Did around 1800km and 70hours. Was around 10-13hours per week. Didn't lose any fitness.
  12. Zwift has kept me entertained. 40hrs and 1300km in 29 days.
  13. Feeling better. Cast is off and flexibility is returning albeit slightly - elbow is pretty stiff and locked almost. Still some pain and tenderness but hoping to go outdoors in about 10 days or so. Can't wait - trainer is killing the mojo. Might be back at some events in September but all hinges around the confidence and arm strength. If anything the goal will be to ride DC with Savage.
  14. That spinning windmill guy rides like that in every single race. He should just remove his big ring and shifter.
  15. No Pure Savage MTB DC team... Not enough riders. The Savages that MTB, ride road at DC
  16. Rawson - 6:33 Gemini - 6:27 6mins then Also know Mike Potton well too
  17. Think Rawson were beaten by 5min in 2015 and that's because they all stopped at the top of Tradouw to fix one of the rider's bikes... Think about that for moment. That said the Gemeni guys are awesome men - I know Neil personally and we've ridden many times together.
  18. One doesn't simply 'join' Pure Savage... Great bunch of guys - fast, committed and wicked humours. I think the key word is fast but then I'm not quite sure why I'm in the team...
  19. Of the two Savages that stayed in the bunch we got 23rd and 69th - 2h21. And yes, we beat the slower rider . We're just average okes trying to mix it up with the faster guys
  20. I'm just a knob most of the time. The kit is available to all of course! Ignore me okes
  21. We're not a club, we're a team. That's why Volvo is sponsoring us for 2016/17. Those interested in the kit and want to order: that's cool, thanks for the support. The sponsors will be left off the shirts unless you're a team rider
  22. Amped as a pig in poo. Last tough session in the bag and all that's left are a few soft pedal recovery rides, pre-race warmup on Friday and bike check. Looking forward to some pain with the Savages
