  1. I am looking for Internet links to long distance riding - as applicable to road bikes in time trial conditions, not bunch strategies. Riding style, techniques and form, such as for hill climbing, hard braking, use of gears, etc - . Not the 101 stuff, rather some sources where we could learn from others how to train and race road time trials. Thanx
  2. I was shown the basics of swimming 101 some time back and my coach was fine, but I was told I now need a different coach for stroke corrections - preferably video-filmed. Where in Gauteng can a triathlete expect to find such person? thanx
  3. For use on road bikes and mtb - clinchers or tubeless. Can it save the day in a race? What if there is already slime in my tube? Pros and cons? Thanx
  4. Thanx to the several meaningful responses! I'll do some follow-ups as indicated. Pity there are so many folks fooling around on forums like this. Amazing how anonymous cowards reveal their real make-up! Rather than waste your own and others' time with silly comments (seldom funny!!), you might contemplate to go do some training instead. That would be far more productive, and you might even end up as hot as you pretend to be. Alternatively just go away. Mr. Moderator, is this flaming on my side?
  5. My Zoot Fuzion served me well, but it is approaching retirement now. What “brand and model” wetsuit will provide the most buoyancy from hips to feet – for a swimmer with sinking legs? Where do I buy that in Gauteng. Thanx
  6. Or buy a new customised bike From above it sounds like I can stick to the Dura-ace and just change the cassette to as whatever the highest is available. thanx
  7. For several reasons I am predicting that this Rockman will soon become a major ultra event on the SA calendar. Superb venue. Yes, pity about the dates clashing. Hopefully canoeists will support it so that we can rejuvenate the old canoe/cycle/run TRIs of the yesteryears (when General Tyres were still Corporal Tyres) Good news also for those marginal swimmers (like me) who feel somewhat insecure without the buoyancy of their wetsuits: if, on the day, it turns out to be a wetsuit-illegal swim, you can jump into your canoe instead!
  8. I am preparing my Felt B2 Pro (TT bike) for an endurance race which includes hills up to 16% gradients. Currently the gearing is 39/25. Given that one can (probably) do nothing about the front blade's 39, I am looking at obtaining the biggest possible rear granny gear - such as 27, 28, maybe 29? Thanx I'm listening
  9. The purpose of my posting was to find riding partner(s) for the very hilly 58km tar road loop - either with mtb or road bike, but all on tar. I found such partner (here on this forum), but if there are others, you are welcome to join us. Send me a personal conversation message with your contact details Thanx for the interest
  10. I do not have the X rays any more, but mine came down to: cracked scapula, severed collarbone (like your X ray) and "about all ribs on the right" - quoting the quack. One rib was in two pieces. It happens March 2011 and all healed within few months.
  11. I am putting together a list of riders to do the Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve (15 min by car south-east of Alberton) on week days as well as weekends. There is no better place for hills and no safer place in South Africa to ride! Now that it is so cold in the mornings, riding middle of the day make humane sense. PM me so I can forward contact details to those interested. Thanx
  12. Thanx!!
  13. Who in Gauteng will fix up my old wetsuit to survive another season? I'll be going down to Comrades coming weekend - can take it along if such place is in Durban Thanx
