  1. Nice one Crow MX rims are often steel? Looks like Steel spokes are coming back into play here...
  2. Dudes, CSA are a bunch of f^&kwits who couldn't organise a p1ss up in a brewery. This is just one case out of many that I have heard about. Did you know that our Olympians entered, funded themselves because CSA couldn't get there act together before hand. They couldn't even get SA journalists their passes before the deadline (applications made once they were closed - daft stuff like that) Constructive criticism can be healthy, but making it known in a spread sheet that was circulated.....idiots
  3. Instead of stuffing around on this thread and bitching about work done for a specific reason (probably due to A: Landowner's requirements B: enviro impact C:Safety requirements...) try this instead seeing as though you are all about mastering your bike skills: Seeing as though the bridge is nicely bermed, see if you can wheelie onto, around&over it, and off the otherside. Now do that when its wet!!! Now do that at full riding pace without buggering it up Now stop vegetating in front of your PC and GO RIDE YOUR BIKE
  4. Hind sight is 20/20 I realized after posting that anodising steel is indeed a tricky affair. It is possible but is quite specialised, but I will endeavor to find out if it is indeed possible in SA. I have heard of a UK company doing it to there steel frames. On the flip side and to try simplify the issue, has anyone heard of companies making aluminium spokes...besides the likes of Mavic and Industry9 and there tubular spokes.
  5. Currently own a set of Formula K18's and K24's...both are awesome, hugely powerful and don't overheat. You just can't cook these guys. And the feel at the lever is superb, I have ridden Avids and I am just not sold on the feel. The rest works fine though I suppose, they just don't feel right
  6. Merry Hubbers Looking for contacts for a local (Cape Town) engineering / finishing works that has an anodising bath... I want to find out if they can anodised SS spokes, costs, etc...nothing like a customised ride. And if anyone is keen to do the same I am happy to share the love.
  7. Crow, shot for the pic fix... Yeah I agree with you on the DW link, and the Ibis looks great in all those cool colours...Guiness Foam - not the greatest colour but the name just sounds so cool. I am definately with BOS on the looks department, Kona's aren't so pretty. As for prices, it may be cheaper to start lashing bamboo bikes together...
  8. uploads2/20090406_093647_Shova_sml.zip This is my puppy the first time it was built up... just thought I'd share the whiteness. Lets hope it comes out, new to this posting picture uploading thingy
  9. NICE PIC!!! Is that Jonty killing the Urban downhill in Bo-Kaap... Linkages, I hear you. The new Morewood has a linkage system, the one that Nathan Rennie is riding. It Looks pretty sweet. Speaking of light bikes, Have you seen that new Scott Genius for 7000quid. As said, its plastic...But then again getting it up the hill will be easier on a hot day...
  10. Sick RM!!! That whole rear triangle looks really tech... Still made of plastic, I would worry about coming short. What was the ride like?
  11. Big kahoona's you got china. But yes, anything is do-able. I suppose Bender does seem to land like a sack of spuds
  12. Maybe Bos is talking about the rock drop with the log wedged into the middle of it...in the lowest section of the DH run? Or are you talking about doing a drop off off the erosion area at the base of Switchbacks...alla Josh Bender
  13. Mmmm, nice Intense. The Shova comes in a Blue similar to that.... I bet that bike likes it a little rough, and dirty
  14. In the same light I suppose I should say well done Father Crow...that little pink person looks like a World Cup winner for sure... Gregs No.1 jersey will have some competition in a couple years...
  15. had to put it out there Slowbee.... Just couldn't resist.
  16. Surprising how absent Magoo and his goo are from this thread. Come on Magoo, ou's have lank (that means lots by the way) popcorn to chow (that means eat) while you defend your position... Some say silence is admission of guilt....awful quite round these parts pilgrim???
  17. Well at least the new dad is riding a proudly south african brand... Yes, take that sentence as you will...
  18. Crow that puppies is sparkling mate. I got a Shova and love mine! That one must just eat bumps, lumps, hops and drops for all three meals of the day!!! And the the new K24's look pretty good too. Hope to see you on the trail sometime and chase you down the hill
  19. Dude, where those trails...they look so well looked after. Almost like Gum trails on a good day.
  20. Sounds dandy!!! I am all for taking time off work on a monday, just because they suck. Actually arvie workshop and cold WindyCorners sounds so damn tempting to.... mmmm beeeeeer
  21. Yes, finally!!! I know a couple individuals who may well be in on the deal too. A little later in the year may be better too, may, june what have you. Perhaps we should look at putting JB up for the time too to help with his costs? If we all chip in it may well benefit the whole bunch. JB maybe tell us what tools to bring as well, then you can just fly down with a toothbrush and a bike to ride (becasue you have to ride a trail while in the mother city)
  22. Styling bike, looks super light and springy
  23. Mavic hubs are the bane of my life at the moment. THEY ARE ***. That free hub bushing system of theirs is a dumb idea on a mountain bike. Their rims are ace, probably hardest to beat. Get any other hub other than a Mavic and save yourself time, money, frustration..... Nukeproof have come out with some interesting hubs, well priced on CRC too. Then the tried and tested Hopes (mmmm) and of course you can not leave a thread on wheels without mentioning MR KING!!!!
