  2. Hi guys I'm planning on getting a 29er, and i'm specifically concerned about the geometry of the frame. Which bike make + model has the 'best' geometry, being fast, best handling (comfort is not the biggest concern). I'm looking at a 29er stumpjumper Specialized. What are thoughts on other bikes like Scott and merida.

  4. yes I have..and it's ID is registered under Spd sensor, not Cad sensor. Does your speed sensor work (keep the CPU going and have time, distance etc.) when only the Speed sensor is connected, without the Powertap hub?
  5. Hi Guys How do you let your speed sensor work on your bike if you haven't got the powertap hub attatched to your bike e.g. for a race. I've used the Learn 1 function and have the speed sensor's ID but when I simply spin the wheel and let the CPU 'find' the sensor it doesn't pick it up Thanks

One last question: Anyone who is familiar with Power Training should know about the L1, L2, L3 up to L6 zones. What would these zones be percentagewise of working HR. e.g. L4 = 80% to 85% Thanks!
  11. Hi Guys I am currently training on power and have a friend that would like to follow a similar program to mine, but doesn't have a power meter, only a HR monitor. To calculate my zones when power training I do a 20min max. effort and use the avg. power to calculate my zones. e.g. if my avg. after 20min is 301watts my L4 zone would be 275watts to 310watts. 301watts is more or less my lactate threshold wattage. My L3 zone, below my L4 zone, would be 235watts to 274watts etc. How can one calculate these zones with a HR monitor? Thanks in advance
  12. HI guys I have a CycleOps SL+ power metre system with a wireless CPU. I downloaded Poweragent from cycleops' website and plugged my CPU onto the USB platform and the USB in the computer. I then opened the program (Poweragent) and clicked on import files and all the icons to do with downloading workouts and it gives me a message that it couldn't find a CPU or source? When I plug the USB mount thing in the computer and wait for the computer to respond, it opens a wizard that wants me to search for a driver or download one from the internet..and never finds anything What is wrong..what am I doing wrong???? Thanks in advance

  14. Is this a book from Joe Friel?? I have the normal Cyclist training bible and have heard of his book called 'Training with power..' or something? Can someone please point this book out to me because I can't seem to find the right one on the web..not too sure which one it is and the Title??

  16. Hi everyone I recently bought a second hand power meter from the hub and would like to start with power training right after the SA's. Please can anyone inform me on power training mistakes and/or interesting information regarding power training. e.g. how to TT with power? how to calculate your lactate threshold in power etc. Any comments are welcome!   19. Which Pro cyclist do you have the most respect for?? All the best riders are always talked about because they are the best - and only that.. When these riders stop winning a lot they are forgotten and know one really remembers them Here is my list (I have a couple): Thor Hushovd Juan Antonio Flecha Cameron Meyer Fabian Cancellara Frank Schleck (not andy) These guys are really excellent at cycling but their good nature and attitude towards others etc. just means much more than the fact that they cycle well
  20. thanks a lot to everyone for all the help and feedback!! I'll definitely back-up on the training hours... the 21 hours is in base training though... will play around with sub 10 hours a week training and see if my body can handle it... I do include a 8 hour rest week every fourth week of training to aid recovery... sorry to hear about your friend sam fisher
  21. Hey agteros I must say I really enjoy school and I'm very happy with my marks (90.9% avg last year gr 10)...not like I have some form of early depression if that's what you're getting at .. I must say that I have realized that I have a very sensitive throat cause when I talk a lot at school and shout at Inter High Athletics competitions etc. My throat really starts getting croaky and the next day I get a sore throat which, if I ride hard that day, I usually get sick soon after... All my illnesses are from a sore throat going down to my lungs etc. Never anything else (if this info helps..) Thanks for the input!!
  22. my body fat percentage is around 7 to 8% when I last had it measured.. The problem is that I always get sick when school starts..in holidays I can train as much as I want.. I do get on average 9 hours of sleep a day. sometimes 8 sometimes 10.. Do you guys reckon I should train fewer hours?? Thanks for the input Tarmac and Airbender
  23. HI guys I always get sick from a couple of days of hard training. . Is this normal or do I train too much.. I'm 17 years old and train around 13 hours a week in speed work.. up to 21 hours in base training..?? The problem is that If I train less I have that feeling that I'm not going to get fit enough!! Is this common for most people or do I just love riding too much Thanks guys...
  24. I dunno why but I need a min of 8 hours to be functional the next day..my typical day's sleep is 9 hours (go to bed at 21:00 and wake up at 06:00)
