  1. Okay thanx a lot!! I am riding a TT bike (Felt b12) and I weigh around 60kg.. I can organize myself a Zipp 1080 back wheel, a Zipp Sub 9 and a Zipp 1080 Front wheel.. What would you suggest?? The Sub 9 is a maybe because it deppends when my start time is compared to the guy whose wheel it is...he is also junior and doesn't want to lend the wheel to me if I start before him... So you reckon there won't be much problem with cross winds etc. Is it usually headwind out and tailwind back?? Thanks again!!
  2. Hi The Break Thanx a lot for the info... I'll definitley give it a try.. BTW what type of wheels would you suggest for me for the TT... considering the typical wind direction etc. Also different options on wheel choice regarding the strength of the wind on race day.. If you can, any useful advice on the TT setup like leg measurements etc..
  3. haha umm I did a 45.26 on exactly 30km - avg was 39.4kmph.. Note that it was done with a set of 2kg Bontrager select training wheels (2mm section!! )
  4. Hi guys I did a 30km TT today in preparation for the SA Time Trial Champs and was quite happy with my time. I just feel that I could have gone faster because my mind kept on thinking of other things which distracted me and I would start slowing down..I can't focus properly.. Are there any tips on how to keep your focus on a lengthy TT? Like listening to a certain song etc...?? Thanks for the input in advance... BTW if anyone knows what would be a 'good' avg speed or time for the PE TT considering I'm a junior.. 'good' being a guaranteed top 10.. Thanks a lot
  5. without??
  6. Hi guys I have a set of Easton EA90SLX 2010 wheels that I use for racing wheels... I was wondering if it would be possible to buy a set of Easton EC90 Aero rims and then build these rims to my current hubs?? The reason I'm asking is because it could save me a sh!tload of money because the hubs are the actual expensive part of a good set of wheels and I anyway wont be using the EA90SLX's if I have the deep sections... If not possible, how about other wheel brands Thanks for the feedback
  7. SO BB30 bottom brackets don't have threads? besides the larger pedal clearance and possibly stiffness of the crankset, what is the difference between the two BB's and cranksets? I'm refering to the mechanical difference not the visual difference...
  8. Is it possible to build a power tap hub on a set of Bontrager wheels.?? The rear spoke count is 24. The reason I'm asking is that Bontrager have that funny 2-by-2 spoke setup.. Here are the Bontrager wheels:
  9. Road... But MTB will also work considering the others on this forum that are more into MTB'ing
  10. Hi guys Just wondering what are the best training wheels?? Considering strength, weight (not too light), flex etc.. Which training wheels have you got? Have they served you well??
  11. Hi Bloody agent There are a couple of "trails" in Klerksdorp - actually jeep track - although there are a couple of roughish technical bits near the KTM track.. Just ask for the 'Cargo' KTM track and you should find it easily. There is also a place called Bietjie Bos that is situated on the Faan Meintjies road (A tar road that serves as the main road bike training road that passes the Faan Meintjies Game reserve). Although it has a minimal entrance fee, it is a quite interesting track. Behind Doringkruin there are also a couple of jeep track trails and a mighty steep and rugged trail that goes to the top of the Doringkruin Koppie. The terrain there is really rough - hard jaggered sand that got hard thanks to all the rain pouring from the Koppie. There is a Saturday and Sunday ride from the Buffeldoorn Road Garage at 07:00. I just don't know wether there will be a ride considering this is the week of Christmas.. Hope that helps!
  12. Allessandro Ballan?? Awesome Ad Fabian Cancellara to the list.. And Voigt
  13. Thanks for the reply Bikemonster I got sick and recovered in around 2 weeks time. I trained LSD 2 hours a day for about 3 days and the rest day then the Zoo Lake Crit 19 September. On Tuesday I swam at Veldskool in some really cold water and got sick and have been sick since! I've basically been doing minimum training but still get sick! I will try and train less then weekly...
  14. Hi guys I train around 5-6 days a week and this past winter I've literally been more off the bike because of illness than on it! It takes me around 3 weeks to get rid of a cold that I picked up just from swimming in some cold water etc. Is this normal? I know that, as a cyclist, your immune system is always on a low, but is it that bad?? Do you guys/gals also get sick so easily? How can you stop this? Thanks
  15. Felt Geometry TT bike: Felt B16 2010 Bike R&A Cycles.htm
  16. Well I've looked at the geometry of the Scott and possibly a Felt B12 54cm or 56 cm... Scott: Scott CR1 Team 2010 Bike R&A Cycles.htm
  17. Hi guys I've recently upgraded from a Scott Speedster S20 2006 model frameset as the bike is slightly too small for me. I've decided to use this Scott frame as a TT bike/frame but am worried whether the 'relaxed' geometry can be converted to an aggressive setup. The bike is slightly too small and therefore the top tube is shorter which means I can move more forward on the bike. The headtube is about 170mm which is really long considering the bike is a 56cm. Can one buy i.e. -30 degree stems and set-forward seatposts to undo the 'relaxed' geometry? Has anyone done this before? What are the pros and cons about using an old road frame as a TT bike?
  18. Thanks guys.. I'll go ask my LBS and see what they can do
  19. Hi guys I'm looking for the cheapest, reasonable-quality headset for a scott speedster s20 2006 model. Will this one fit? Is it all I need or must I still get the compression part.. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=52983 I've got a carbon steerer so apperently a star nut won't work.. True? Thanks Christoph
  20. Hi Anyone got a Selle Italia Flite Team edition?? Are they good saddles??
  21. Hi Can one use sram TT500 shifters with a Shimano 10spd 105 5600 rear derraileur?? Which TT shifters are better? Sram TT500's or SHimano Dura Ace ??\\ http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=31540 http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=34322 Thanks
  22. Hi guys I'm just wondering if there isn't such a thing as a set-forward seatpost..?? I'm converting my old road frame to a TT bike and need the saddle quite alot forward.. Do you have to get a smaller frame or can I turn a set-back seatpost the other way around to make it set-forward..??

  24. Is it wise to want to repaint a carbon bike?? Ideally to have some raw carbon pieces painted and some painted pieces in raw carbon( the paint sanded away and carbon underneath)
