  1. A simple question turned into a physics lesson. Simple answer: Basically any bike you like, with stronger wheels if you're concerned. Bikes are generally designed to take a beating so a bit of extra weight will not make much difference. the only time it would will be if you're hitting it hard. And if he's "starting out" , he won't be. Done.
  2. As the cheapo option: Often you can go to your LBS and ask for a cardboard bike box. Just remove the wheels, saddle and maybe loosen/remove the handlebar. Wrap it nice and tight, done!
  3. Wow. Thanks for the heads' up (and glad for no heads off ) . Also ride there often and I'm the type that doesn't pay attention to possible things like that.
  4. I Found the Fox bib I bought very uncomfortable. Nothing like a few crotch re-adjustments while trying to act pro. First Ascent bibs are good value. Best by far (out of the ones I've tried) are the Pearl Izumi pair. Still going strong after a few k's, and super comfy.
