  1. Save money on the balance bike. Spend more when they need brakes and pedals. I got one from GeeWiz for R500. My son rides it every day and it's held up great. Pull off all the Chinese stickers and put your own. My son gets to add a sticker to it every time he accomplishes something new, and loves it. https://www.geewiz.co.za/kids-bikes/176356-4453-12-inch-kids-balance-bike.html#/19-colour-yellow
  2. The only thing I don't like about it is the "cheese grater" seat tube gusset. While I appreciate it for how it's accomplished, it's not practical at all. However, due to the magic of 3d printing that can be changed easily. Otherwise my Kingdom was the best bike I've ever owned and will get another in a heartbeat.
  3. Just get a Garmin. As a Suunto fan, I'm so peeved I got the Suunto 5 instead of a Garmin.
  4. Time to petition for taller starting huts so he stops hitting his head on the way out. He's done it a few times I believe. Such a rad weekend. My dogs came running when I was shouting at the TV. Glad Greg got a win, nearly 2. Glad even though Bruni won the race, Walker walked away with the overall. Also, Troy Brosnan's run was sick! Sad about Greg's 0.17 Sad about Vergier's flat costing him the cup. He's been a machine.
  5. That is a very cool machine. Super envious that I don't have one in my kitchen at home. Thanks for the suggestions. Hopefully I can sneak one into a office necessities budget of sorts. Holding thumbs.
  6. I need some thoughts on a new bean to cup machine for the office that isn't breaking any banks. Our overworked delonghi magnifica has bitten the dust and needs replacement. Probably does around 20 coffees / cappuccinos a day. Any thoughts? I don't think a industrial style machine is necessary, just one that's fairly reliable to stay on all day. Also doesn't need an employee with an inner barista. Just a "do you want decent coffee? Yes I do" button.
  7. Fox Ranger shorts go on sale often, and are comfy and quick to fit. I got mine for R750 a while back. One of the best things about the "trail riding look" is often I just throw on my helmet shorts and shoes and am out the door in 5 minutes. Rather than spending ages kitting and layering up, re-arranging my bits so I don't scare the children and stuffing things into the back of my cycle top that could potentially impale me. Other thing is a comfy helmet that doesn't brake the bank. Personally the IXS ones agree with my head and wallet.
  8. I'm excited about this! Why am I excited about this? Well maybe some budget 4pot brakes.
  9. It's crazy out there: I put an IDT up for sale and get this within 2 hours: 3 more pages of it!
  10. Ragley mmmbop. Torn between one of these, a Nordest Bardino or a custom Marino frame for my next long term project. I'm itching for a playful hardtail again.
  11. Speaking of bean to cup.. (Pitchforks at the ready folks) Does a machine exist that actually has a half-decent automated cappuccino? I'm not expecting the best, but at work when time is short, all I want is a cappaccino that isn't crap, or takes long to do. Our current Delonghi (and Jura), the espresso is decent, the foam is crap, the order it does it is wrong for some reason (milk then shot??). If you do it separate, try get rid of some bubbles then put it together afterwards it's okay, but I feel that these are steps I shouldn't be needing to do. I'm not purist by any means, but I do find it strange that there isn't something that can replicate a hint of what a coffee barista can do.
  12. Aesthetically the new Banshee's are very "meh". A bit over-vanillafied. They may be a great bike, with a step in the right direction in terms of numbers, and their new manufacturing techniques throughout are sick, but to me they've lost what I believe many people found appealing.
  13. Yeah, no way in flipping hell. Dick around with him and say you have a mate in Kimberley who can collect it with cash. Or even better: say it's for your nephew who works on an oil rig, who will send a representative to collect. Send random stock image ID and a bank POP done in MS paint.
  14. There's a Canyon bikes thread. it has a great spreadsheet that will throw out a pretty accurate price to your door. Has all the shipping and duties etc. may just have to adjust the currency value accordingly. Edit: Found it. Copied and pasted: There is no VAT on shippingThe Import VAT however is a more difficult calculation as all imports into SA is worked out on ATV (Added Tax Value)For easy landed cost calculation in SA, we share this with customers: https://docs.google....dit?usp=sharingAn SA citizen can make 3 imports per year on your ID number. Whether it is from books to bikes. SARS will stop your 4th import when your ID number is all maxed out and request an import code from you.If the value of your import into SA is more than R50’000 you also need an Import Code.If you purchase a Canyon (all coming from Germany), you can gladly use your own Importers Code. If you do not have one, we can easily clear your purchase with our local Import Code. The courier (UPS) will inform us when it is requested from SARS and as soon as they do we always just create the document to clear it anyhow on your behalf, so no struggle for the customer. You will make two payments: One to Canyon for the bike, parts, frame, shipping and box. The other to UPS for the Duties and VAT once the bike arrives in SAThe fluctuating ZAR is a rather unique case for SA and something not normal for the Germans to experience, there is planning being done, although slightly difficult and slow, for a ZAR value on: www.canyon.com/en-za/
  15. Aww, So just poor advertising then. Unfortunate.
  16. Cadence World has a Sram NX Eagle full groupset for R3999 for this weekend. On their FB page
  17. Hey all, I'm looking for an automatic milk frother to replace the office's bean to cup built in one that died. Any suggestions? So far I'm looking (mainly from takealot) at: Delonghi - Alicia Latte Melitta - Cremio II Jura AutomaticAll roughly R1k Not sure if this is acceptable by coffee purist standards but I just want a decent cappuccino at work with minimal effort.
  18. 100% whole bike. BikeAddict mysteriously also only have XL available @ R25.9k
  19. With Canyon officially launching in SA, with demo days, SA-Canyon personnel etc. Surely we wont need to keep doing this cost, shipping, tax, vat, duty dance garbage for much longer? Should get to the point where it's: See bike... See rand price... pay.. get bike. Any news of what their endgame is with regards to being true direct sales to SA? (apologies if it has been mentioned, just endless landed bike calculation discussions are getting tiresome and so confusing due to the lack of consistency)
  20. Very cool breakdown of current suspension traits: https://enduro-mtb.com/en/mtb-suspension-systems/
  21. Bandwagon jump: Will a 10sp Sram X0 2.1 medium cage derailleur work smoothly with a Sunrace 11-46? Getting mixed feedback.
  22. That's brilliant, and will open up a whole new bag of worms (and goodies) among other manufacturers. I'm pretty sure most people will just blindly throw it into longest, slackest and angle'ist of setups right off the bat.
  23. Who is the said second well respected doc? If you don't mind sharing.
  24. Sorry to hear. Please keep us all up to date. If one positive from all your hardship is that someone recognises your symptoms and gets tested. I'd say that'd be huge. I for one am absolutely terrified of cancer. As mentioned before, you could be the fittest and healthiest oke around and bam! I have a number of lipomas that I got checked a while back. After a bit of prodding, the GP said it's all good and if any cancerous ones appear that it would show signs in my blood tests? This is the part I'm not sure of. How does one do a hypochondriac-style test for cancer? Do general blood tests work? or do you just have to be lucky/smart enough to act early on warning signs?
  25. Equivalent to sharing sonograms with strangers..
