  1. This new random Ballot (Bullsh#t) system is going to make a lot of passionate cyclists that have competed in many Cape Argus/Cape Town Cycle Tours very unhappy!.. and I am unfortunately one of them. God be with those people who came up with this bizarre Ballot idea.
  2. I think we should all be grateful that the City of Cape Town is still making this event possible! People are putting their lives on the line so you and me can be safe and protect us from disaster. If you are proudly South African you will embrace this race and see it as a special event that will not be repeating itself soon. To all the good positive cyclists-be safe & ENJOY!
  3. Hi. It happened to me to on Sat. 22 February at 07H00am on the R304 passing Kayamandi. 2 Guys was walking towards me and as I was getting close to them the one started running and tried to kick me off my bike. He got the back wheel but I managed to slip away from them. Then I hit both brakes, turned around and started confronting them. After confronting them I realised that instead of backing off, they are actually moving towards me. When the one guy started looking over his shoulder for any cars approaching, I knew that something is about to happen and that I had made a stupid decision to confront them. I got away from them crossing the road and met up with 2 other cyclists. I found out an hour later that another guy got attacked and his bike was stolen. Police cars where on the scene. So my question is-What do we do?

  5. Hi. It happened to me on Saturday morning 07h00am passing Kayamandi on the R304. I saw 2 guys walking towards me from the side of the road and as I got closer to them, one started running towards me and tried to kick me off my bike. He got my back wheel but I managed to stay on and get away from them. I was furious and suddenly hit both brakes, turned around and walked towards them. After confronting them I realised that the one was looking around his shoulder to see if there were any oncoming traffic. They did not back off and then I realized that something is about to happen and that I am being an idiot. I crossed the road and met up with some other cyclists. These guys are not scared and I beleive they are either high on drugs and definitely carry some sort of weapon. I will avoid that area in the future.
  6. To all cyclists using the R 304 passing Kayamandi outside Stellenbosch. Avoid Cycling past that area especially if you are cycling alone. I was passing there on Sat 22 February at 07H00am when I saw two suspicious characters moving towards me from the side of the road. As I was passing them the one started running towards me and tried to kick me off my bike! He got my back wheel but I managed to stay on and slip away from them. I was told by another cyclist that they managed to steal onother big guy's bike, who was also cycling alone on exactly the same spot about an hour later that day. These Bicycle hijackers are absolutely fearless and will attack anyone cycling alone as they usually work in groups of 2 or more. One will knock you off and keep you busy while the other one disappears with your bike. These incidents and attacks are increasing daily since the "bikejackers" know that our bikes are quite valuable. What can we do in terms of protection?
  7. It is not easy to describe the guys that tried to steal my bike and it is different once you actually are in a situation like that. Things happen so fast and I was also cyclling at a descent speed at the time. All that I can tell is that the guy that tried to kick me off the back was dressed in black and his assistant had a blue tracktop on. They were both skinny-the one who tried to kick me off the bike was about 1.7m and the other one slightly taller. I wreckon they must be in their late 20's or early 30's. P.S. I did not refer to everyone in that area as a "character".
