  1. Just look up cyclist workshop on facebook. I don't want to post his details without his authority.
  2. Yeah I thought the whole thing over again. I am getting back into riding after 3 years, and I am overweight. Going all gnarly and rigid is ill advised at this point. But the frame will always leave the option open to me for later...!
  3. Ok the part I didn't tell you bud is I weigh 164kg. The carbon stuff is out like last month's pay....???? Lauff too
  4. Apparently Josh was telling me that Hope make a new type of foam internal set of bars. It supposedly absorbs a lot of the rigid feedback that you get from rigid forks. I think I want to give that a go.... It's not cheap, but should be worth it! Also we discussed putting a wider rim on, something with say a 30mm internal width. Run like 2.4 at lower pressure to increase absorption....
  5. Well... The frame was purchased up here in jhb by a gent who owns a shop called cyclist workshop. He is an awesome dude, and his pricing was brilliant. His name is Josh. Just tell him Big Chris referred you!
  6. Hi there, Will ss be forgiving on the strenuous climbs in XC? Or is it just a matter of momentum and man the f up...?
  7. Well, here is my brand new frame.... I can't decide if I'm doing the single speed rigid, or suspension geared... I am a XC rider and also enjoy the bit of play... Nothing on black diamond level, but switchbacks, single trail, roots etc. Any rigid riders that can give valued insight? How are the wrists at 40km in? And single speed? Another question, is 650b a viable option for the marathon rider, or is it 29 all the way...?
  8. Ok,have said before,I weigh 155kg. Vittoria Saguaro really impressed. They improved their design. Conti protection tyres, have a 240TPI count, which make the sidewalls strong, but the tyre heavy. Saguaro made their sidewalls 240tpi,and the top of the tyre(tread),120tpi for faster rolling. Also the Saguaro has directional knobs, that you can run either for traction,or speed. I turn the front for traction, and the rear for speed. Works beautifully Cheers

  10. Oh sorry,I must add that I built XC marathon bikes. HD-enduro Saguaro XC
  11. Hi peeps fitted new Vittoria Saguaro tyres to two builds. They are my new best tyres. Amazing, grip, grip, grip. Even the wet was deadly. BUY THEM!! Regards Chris
  12. To both guys for enduro tyrea. Don't look at anything but Hans Dampf 2.35 front and rear. Go for the pacestar(harder compound)at the rear, and trailstar(softer compound)up front. Those tyres are bombproof, and extremely grippy. They don't wear too fast either. Check on easybike.co.za Matthew Walsch has THE BEST pricing on german tyres. BTW,a new tyre getting insane reviews,is the Schwalbe Magic Mary, which is a do it all Enduro tyre. A bit more pricey, but still better than anyone else in the industry. Cheers Chris
  13. Yeah that's a GT Zaskar. Awesome bike.
  14. Good day gents here is my cotic bfe that I have temporarily converted to XC. I think it looks hot. . .
  15. Hi hubbers I don't usually complain, but I think it was organised a bit shoddy. The waterpoints were horrible, and the pull away times weren't honoured as we were supposed to,I pulled away late. But the routes were cool, quite challenging, but nice. Chris
  16. Hi peeps, I live in Drumblade, which is on route in the race, but never done the event. Doing the 30km,so yeah, quite excited! Chris
  17. I do the tech stuff. Love it,jumps, rocks etc. It's actually amazing how the low pressure holds me,as a vetgat.
  18. Hi guys Just for the info,I weigh 158kg,and run by the 2.2bar. Tubeless snakeskin though.
  19. Hi guys Mate and I are pulling away at The big "G" tomorrow morning between 9/10. If anyone is keen, feel free to join.
  20. Hey guys, Whilst you guys are at it,you might want to give Matthew at easybike a shout. He is a Schwalbe guy, with THE BEST prices I have seen yet. Click on his site, his number should be there, and give him a shout. Awesome dude. www.easybike.co.za
  21. Hi guys, The Barn is amazing. Just always be tentative,I did a jump, mis judged, and found myself in the emergency rooms this weekend past. But that won't hold me back,I will be trying again in a week. Have been riding the Barn for about a year. Meet up with ppl that know the trail well, and they could show you some true secrets at the Barn. Hidden trail parts
  22. Well, I don't know the distances that well there, but I do know it's a huge trail. Maybe look at a 30-40km ride on monday? I will see what the map says,I know that they say concrete road and oom piet,as well as poffadder are hectic climbs, but yeah. I am just so excited. I love it when fellow cyclists rave and rant about a trail in unity. That just means it's one of the best. I'm used to the likes of big red barn, rietvlei, thaba, groenkloof etc. So this would be all new. I will only be there sunday afternoon say maybe 13h00-14h00. Regards
  23. Well,my wife and I are sleeping by oom Eric sunday night,so we'll ride sunday and monday. If anyone is going, maybe we can join up. . . I think I'll do the river route sunday afternoon, and a long scenic route monday.
