  1. Anyone been to Rietvlei recently? I used to go there literally once a week, but it deteriorated so much. Might go pop in this arvie, but just wanted to see if anyone has been lately.
  2. Did the 60km race today. Biggest benefit is the proximity to Pretoria. I enjoyed the predominantly "dirt road" route. They were giving someone CPR near the end, hope he is ok. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  3. I've done Mountain trophy twice, in 2013 and 2014. Do not under estimate day 1. It is a tough day out. Much tougher than the Nissan trailseeker 70km races. Train hard!
  4. Irrespective there are (stupid) kids doing the 30km. Don't think they should be given the option of attempting that...
  5. One other thing. Think the high drop off was just plain dangerous for 30km riders. It is really high, steep and terrain lose.. Think it should be excluded from the route in future.
  6. Just looked at the results. Lots of DNF not sure why that is....
  7. I have a solo entry for the Divas n Dukes 45km race at the Lion and Rhino park tomorrow. I have hurt my neck and can't manage the distance. If anyone wants to use it (for free) please message me.
  8. Anyone do the marathon last year? I have entered, but pretty undertrained, how does it stack up against other events of a similar distance?
  9. There was a river crossing at about 10km where we (backmarkers) waited there for 30-45 minutes in 2013 and 2014.
  10. According to Strava 677m climbing over 46.8km...
  11. Climbing was good for a Joburg race. Particularly liked the climb on the way out. Markings, marshalling, parking, quality of tracks all good. Didn't like the part where we rode three times up and down what appeared to be the same hill at about 32kms I lost my sense of humour on the last climb up to the water table. Also, there was no food at any of the water points. Overall a nice ride around the reserve, a solid 7/10....
  12. It's a huge win that these races are now starting at 7am. Saves us from the heat of the day. Bit of climbing too, which will be good...
  13. Have registered but still haven't received an email for this race yet.
  14. To luigat to drive from Pretoria. Reckon it's Klapperkop tomorrow....
