I use a Cytomax energy drink during the ride with a GU Energy gel or two. Depending on how hard the ride is I will have a Muscle Milk, also from the Cytomax range, just to replenish what I have lost after the race, within 15min.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Basically, carb up 3 days before an event, eat 3-4 hours before the ride on the day, if you are going to eat anything. Hydrate during the race and make sure you put some carbs back into your system after the race.

Went for a ride last night and stopping at a robot, heard the Golf behind me, idling at some high rev's - must have been an aggressive cam in it. Anyway, pulling away from the robot I was not to far along my way when this Blue/green golf (cam and cone making one heck of a noise) came past. The passenger actually physically tried to push me off my bike. Managed to regain balance and didn't hit the deck. Thought about throwing a waterbottle at them but apparantly that is not a wise move. Instead took down the license plate number DGH 647 EC! Feel like taking a baseball bat to the car if I see it parked in a Port Elizabeth parking area. Hot wheels - would dig a pair of the road bike ones, pricey though. Now you just need a white seat and other bits to really PIMP it!
