  1. In the old SA coloureds were too black, now in the new SA coloureds are too white......no real change, still getting "harrassed".
  2. The only weather condition I have not done the Argus in is snow. Done the heat, rain and wind and each time I have enjoyed it. It is a beautiful route and the support is awesome. Take time to enjoy the scenery and the massages along the way. Lap up the atmosphere and you won't even realise the km's passing by. The racing snakes will take the risks to improve times no matter what the weather conditions but they normally way up ahead. Just be careful on the down hills, they can be pretty fast and towards the end people are tired and don't concentrate. Like everyone will also tell you is enjoy it. I think it is the best road race in SA.
  3. My experience with bike shops is not a good one. I do all my own servicing of mine and my wife's road and mountain bikes. I found that the owners of the shops generally give good service and make sure quality work is done, but they can't watch their staff all the time. Staff get paid for their work. Genrally don't care about the work as long as they get their cheque at the end of the day. There are definitley the exceptions but finding them may take more frustration and pain than learning how to do it yourself. I rather do the service myself and if its a half job its my own fault. At least i have not paid for the half job.
  4. I have an understanding with my mate. He weighs in at 120kg's and I'm at 80kg's. I push him up the hills and he pulls me on the downs and flats. Amashovashova was a breeze.
  5. Iron, it all depends on the route but most times we finish at around 9, just in time for a cup of coffee at Elm Street Cafe
  6. Hey tedibear The Edenglen guys meet at the Grand Slam parking lot in Dowerglen around 6am on Saturdays. Most of the guys cycle to the parking lot and we normally grab a cup of coffee afterwards. All the routes are in and around Edenvale, Linksfield, Modderfontein. Sometimes we ride out to O.R. Tambo and do part of the Emperors Palace route and other times we drive out to Rietvlei in Alberton. If there are novices with us we will point out some of the not so easy parts of the ride.
