    Argus 2014

I think everyone can agree the new seeding works for the guys upfront, just need to extend that gap to maybe 2 minutes.
  2. So Zakkie use this as an oppertunity to inform us of what had happened, if you remain silent we only hear one side of the story.
  3. On the lighter side ( we need this), I showed my son this clip yesterday. His first reation was " What kind of a guy uses his bike to hit someone, he is not a real cyclist" LOL
  4. In the past I have also been involved in an incident with a motorist which escalated very quickly. I always think back and wonder how bad things could have gone that day for both parties. It is very difficult to understand or even justify what happens in incidents like these but I think we all know how bad things can get very quickly. I have been a cyclist in Cape Town for over 15 years and have ridden this route thousands of times, in that time I have chatted to many cyclists from all walks of life and I think we all have more in common than we sometimes choose to admit. I do not think cyclist are “ gangsters “, I think many of us take up this sport to avoid these type of situations. This I think is an instance that was handled very badly by the cyclists, I do believe there is more that we are not seeing on this tape. I think all our clubs and groups should get involved to help train the cyclists out there how to respond to this and other incidents out there.
  5. This does add to the diffuculty factor as by this time more than half the field are out there, so traffic becomes an issue.
  6. So this has always been my strategy when it comes to the Argus (regardless of what time I am aiming for that year) Sit in the bunch till Edinburgh drive then work as hard as you not to get dropped (if you get dropped, get in the next bunch), and sit all the way till Smits again work as hard as you can not to get dropped, Once you to get to the base of Chappies it’s a 90% effort to the top if you go to hard you will pop and go backwards, then the same 90% effort on Suikerbossie. The give it everything on the stretch home.
  7. Sorry not sure if you mentioned it before, what group are you starting with.
  8. What you have to remeber is that most of the top guys where not at this race, They where doing the crit a bit later. So although the conditions where tough the winners time also needs to be adjusted.
  9. I think the fact that we are starting a half an hour earlier and that there is no league groups will help ease the traffic problems.
  10. I honestly think this is a mix up, it takes the group about 1 minute for everyone to cross the timing matt. We will be catching the group in front of you before the Holiday Inn. Can't be correct????
  11. If not there is going to be a group of 500 + on Smits
  12. Those 1 min gaps are only from B - E all the rest are 3 mins, surely a mistake of some sorts?
  13. The Roller Coaster is one of the Southern Suburb Classic's pity that we cannot do Ou Kaaps twice, but with all the recent road works and traffic congestion in the south just to be racing there again is a treat (Lets hope that we can keep racing there in the future).
