    It is called a PRO kit for a reason. Nothing wrong with wearing a vest/gillet/jacket to show your support for the team, but to race in the kit... It has to be kept in mind that the pro's earned that kit and is quite an honor to wear it and race in it. It all boils down to preferences I presume, but lets give some respect where respect is due.

    Icon!! About a third lighter than Crossmarks and great puncture protection. I have about 800 puncture free kilos on mine. I had a bubble or pimple once on one of the tires and the LBS exchanged the tire for a brand new one. No questions asked. Great all round traction as well. You wont go wrong with them

    Try adjusting the adjusting screw at the shifter together with the adjusting screws at the deraileur. The screw at the shifter is for fine tuning. I suspect that or your shifters may be the problem.

    Why not try to reduce the travel, thus bypasing the damaged bit? Just a thought.. No idea if it wil work..

    I take it you look to get into MTB'ing? Good strategy to pick up a cheap bike to try out with, but it is suuuuper entry level and you will struggle to sell it if you do not like it. Try to lend a bike from a friend and then try it.
