  1. This. Had exactly the same problem with an alternator once. Works perfectly if you have patience.
  2. Early morning ride in Johannesburg today. Taken on Gordon Road.
  3. Linden Cycles used to sell those in the late 80's. Similar to local Alpina's of the time? *Edit* Clicks picture, sees Linden Cycle clearly printed on frame. <facepalm>
  4. http://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vintage/390350-strange-old-shimano-crankset-pics.html A good deal of stuff here to: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/shimano.html
  5. I think I remember those cranks - the freewheel was in the bb/crankset, so you could change gear with the front or rear derailleur without pedaling - there was no freewheel at the cassette, so the chain was always running.
  6. Hmm. So if it's going to be a lottery, then my chances of success will increase if enter myself, and then my mom, my dad, my wife and my three kids (who don't ride)in the lottery. I'll have 7 chances of getting an entry instead of 1. All I do is a substitution to get the entry on my name, and pay a FEE for the privileged. So the CTCT can expect a massive increase in the number of ballot entries, ultimately the same number of race-day riders, and a ton of extra cash for substitutions. It's amazing what kind of behaviour results from wayward incentives. Another unexpected result could be a huge increase in rogue riders who just can't be arsed to go through the schlep that entering has become.
  7. WTF? That red car is scratching the bike!
  8. Legend Resort, Waterberg. Not a very big place, but some very challenging deep, soft, sand on the west fence! https://www.strava.com/activities/283991449
  9. If I lived in Manhattan or somewhere like that, then this would make sense. Could be very, very light, less than 4 kg if make properly. Reckon the handlebar could collapse as well, so you could carry it onto the tube. Then your walk to your apartment or office is much quicker.
  10. From a recent trip to McGregor.
  11. The smell of ripening grapes was fantastic motivation to get back to Tanagra and have a nice Merlot.
  12. Last week on the road from Robertson to McGregor.
  13. Good thing, I don't have a wet suit.
