  1. I think that if they don't reschedule ASAP they will lose all the cred they built up after last year's issues. There are bound to be loads of riders who have trained for the even only to be disappointed twice in a row ... A real pity though, I was sure this year would have been a significant upgrade from last year and the legacy builds were promising (even if they're a little wobbly).
  2. yeah me too, I rate we do the "unofficial" route come rain or shine
  3. Not likely ... too much invested, will just have delays and maybe a re-route around the storm drains ... can't see the paying back the money - he he he
  4. http://www.juma.co.za/wp-content/uploads/JUMA_Map.pdf they used to have the profiles on the site, replaced with this "Disney" map
  5. Hi, I was touched by Edgar's story (From part time trail builder to rider). I looked for him on the batching to see where he would start (he has big dreams of doing well) and I see that he is riiiiiiight at the back ... ZB group. Can't someone put some stick about to get him bumped up so he can enjoy the race? maybe E or F group? It sounds like he's been grafting for the event and it would be a shame for him to be delayed by the inevitable bottle necks which crop up on the course.
  6. Anyone know if a route profile is going to be made available for JUMA?
  7. Thanks for the link ... Is useful for setting routes and obsticale difficulty but is still pretty subjective in my opinion. Perhaps it's just the mathematician in me looking for a data driven answer
  8. Hi Hubbers, So I've been thinking about ways to rate/rank my rides and I wondered if anyone has any suggestions on how to go about it. So far I have the following data which I think is important: 1) Distance 2) Elevation 3) % single track 4) # of obstacles with warnings So the first two are easy from your GPS device so a ratio of the two gives a good indicator (meters climbed per km on average). The next two are a bit more subjective. Any thoughts?
  9. What group did you start in? I had this strategy to up my seeding too, hope it pays off!
  10. I had a good race on Saturday, did a 1:49 for the half which is a PB. I thought the course was a little boring though, more single track would have been good. I suppose if I want more to my race I should grow a pair and enter the marathon next year See you at the next one!
