  1. My wife and I are in Hermanus this weekend and want to do some of the Hemel & Aarde trails on Saturday morning. If I'm not mistaken there was a panga wielding chap on the trails there recently, so could any of the locals please advise what's the safety like on the trails currently? Is it safe for my wife and I to ride there alone? Also, are there perhaps any regular group/club rides we could join?
  2. Yikes this was a tough one and a proper test! Starting the Swartberg Pass with 140km in the legs is no joke! In my books much tougher than the Amarider! I measured 170,4km with 2778m ascent. Well done Milky on catching me right at the top of the pass - you must have been flying up there! Overall an awesome event - Kudos to the organisers! No issues with route markers, great water points, more than enough marshalls especially coming down the pass! I can see this becoming a huge event in years to come, especially for the cyclo-cross chaps!
  3. Guys, just a quick update - Hendrik of SAwheelworkx is now the workshop manager at Helderberg Cycle World and no longer work on wheels himself. Any new exceptional wheel builders in Cape Town area since this thread was last updated?
  4. Just entered :-) Going to be awesome!!
  5. Thanks for the info re Tapiriik Pure Savage & Myles! Just want to make sure I get this. I have a Suunto device, which links with Suunto's MovesCount software, which in turn links with Strava, which is linked to Discovery. In order to continue qualifiying for the benefit after 2 April I need to create GC and Tapiriik accounts and link the GC account with Discovery. So the path would look like this: Suunto - MovesCount - Strava - Tapiriik - GC - Discovery. Right? I've tried the MapMyFitness story. It links with Discovery, but the syncing between MovesCount and MapMyFitness is not working, even though it says it's activated!!
  6. I reside in Milnerton, Cape Town and am yet to walk into any of my local bike shops and not find Cadence products on their shelves - this include Cycles Direct, Cycle Technix and City Cycles. That's all within 15mins drive. If I widen the circle to include Cape Town CBD and the Bellville/Durbanville area, then there are probably 20 bike shops all stocking Cadence products, including Chris Willemse where I bought several Cadence Gels yesterday.
  7. I bought two Scott bikes from Johan at King's Cycle in Worcester last week and am SUPER impressed with the service received. Their pricing on the bikes and other accessories bought were also unbeatable and most importantly, everything was done on time and exactly like we discussed. I can highly recommend King's Cycle and will happily drive through from CT again in future. Keep up the good work guys!
