  1. I understand that with a mass event you can't expect amazing action shots or just you in the pic but just by moving the photogs to places like the river crossing the shots would be way more interesting and they'd score by getting more sales.
  2. I don't think the issue is the bike being R7k. I bought a bike for R28k in March and also had a "quick" setup done and only realized how much better it felt with a "proper" setup last month when I read all the posts here about how crucial it is to have it proffesionally setup. After having the setup done I feel maybe the shop should suggest you go for a full setup as opposed to their 5 min version.
  3. Being new to mtb I did my first race/ fun ride last month (Die Burger Challenge 30km). I had an abosolute ball and thoroughly enjoyed it. Having got back from holiday last week I remembered that it was possible to get pics of yourself from the ride and I guess being a newbie it sounded like a cool idea and yes it is great to have pics of myself from my first "race", however the pics are a tad disappointing in so far as a pic of someone riding along a flat jeep track doesn't really make for a good shot. The pics posted by amateurs here on the hub are invariably more exciting. Surely it would made more sense to put the photographers at the river crossing and the various mudbaths along the way to inject a bit of life and excitement into the pics. Looking at pics of family and friends their pics are also all taken from the same locations so I don't think it's a question that I was unlucky not to have got better pics. Is it just me or does anyone else feel the same way?
  4. You're not the only one doing your first, so you're in good company. Also looking forward to the experience.
  5. Kenda up for the wooden spoon.
  6. If you stick around I'm sure you'll find that the vast majority of the members are really eager to help new comers and give good solid advise. Cool people with big hearts. That's been my experience anyway. If you do get the odd reply you didn't anticipate just ignore and enjoy the overwhelming majority of good hearted peeps who give their time to reply to our sometimes not too bright questions.
  7. Ok cool. That's obviously where I went wrong. I just took it home and stuck it in the garage till the weekend. Thanks for the info.
  8. Tried that. Picked it up Wed evening. Went to garage today (Sunday) to be greeted by the front wheel lying in a pool of slime with one very flat wheel . Guess it's back to LBS tomorrow. Would that be because it wasn't seated properly and if so how do you tell when it is seated correctly? It was hard on Wed.
  9. Awesome. Will look him up. Saw one out at Dirtopia, Pierre I think his name was but will check out iRide. Thanks for the tip.
  10. Currently around 85kg. Reading through the comments I think I'll delay the wheels till a bit later and try do a workshop course and a skills clinic first. I think right now they'd benefit my riding more than a set of wheels.
  11. Ok so it looks like the dropper this week and start aiming at a tubeless conversion. After that maybe father Christmas will decide to drop off a pair of Crests. Guys thank you so much for all the responses and advice. You guys are truly amazing. Much appreciated.
  12. The standard wheels are Giant PXC2 double wall. What would a suitable upgrade be? What would the gains be from different wheels? Weight?
  13. Being new to mtb I recently got a 2014 Anthem X29er 1 which I absolutely love . I intend getting the Giant dropper post for it but what would be other worthwhile upgrades for it if any. It's SLX throughout with XT rd. Would any upgrades be noticeable to me with my limited experience in mtb ? Your commets will be greatly appreciated
  14. If I were you I'd simply have asked for my bike back and taken it elsewhere.
  15. Hi guys, new to posting on the forums but been following them for a while. Just to clarify, so does this mean it would be ok to ride a track like Faerie Garden but not Vasbyt or am I interpreting it incorrectly.
