  1. Milky, disparaging the little guy, telling him/her that their efforts aren't that important. Its in the past and I'll let it be, but basically I was upset because, only if you were lucky / unlucky enough to be one of the back markers of the 50 Miler, did you have a remote chance of getting in on the Oakpics action as the 100 Milers would have started passing you and THEY were taken pics of. This we found out after the race, after going through all of their fb pics. Oakpics was only "tasked to do media cover of 100 miler". Now this might seem petty to you (not saying it does), but for someone who trains just as hard as the next guy and managed to better her time 'bietjie vir bietjie' each year, damn straight that medal and picture is important to me. I feel the 50 Milers were used (to fill in the financial gaps) and not taken seriously. Anyway, end of rant and end of story. Back to training.
  2. Thanks so much to the organisers for only arranging/paying Oakpics for 100 Miler riders coverage. Real class of you and sends a super clear message.
  3. Firstly, thanks very much for all the pics. Much appreciated. And thanks to the organisers. I loved the race, swan dive into the grass (gravel section) and all. Thanks Lylo, I passed the accident scene and it was very unnerving. Would appreciate more info on this though as I would feel better knowing for a fact he is ok.
  4. I would LOVE for my kids to cycle to school. It's not so far (2km) and logistically possible. My biggest fear however are the parents dropping off and picking up their kids. After 5 years of witnessing this and sending emails to the Head Master, I've given up. My kids can cycle with me in the forest, but cycling to school will never happen. Just like you, I cycled to school, so it's sad not to let them be free and ride their bikes, but the saddest part for me is that that freedom is taken away by wreckless and traffic law lacklustre parents at their school and not taxi drivers, which I'm sure the latter gets lambasted regularly by those same hypocrites (parents).
  5. Mtb only or road too? What's you goal? Specific race?
  6. Thinking about it... Anyone have entry link please?
  7. I have a 4-man entry available + 1 night accommodation (at start, not finish) if anyone interested. PM
  8. Hammer works best for my allergies. Only the Whey (obviously), recoverite and recovery bars not safe. The energy bars are natural and gluten-free, dairy-free, GMO-free, no peanuts, etc. The fiz also gluten-free and no sugars or artificial sweeteners. Gel, same - msg-fee. There is one with caffeine. Everyone is diffirent, but this is the only product that seems to work for me. No side-effects. I think. :-)
  9. That's terrible. Its almost as bad as generalising.
  10. You have to qualify for the Comrades, which is actually my point, but I get what you are saying about the lottery entries.
  11. Don't want to start a debate, just a thought. Morewood, what is so wrong with trying to increase your chances of an entry. What doesn't seem right to me is the parctice of the organisers letting any old rider enter and paying BAIE, regardless of skill level etc, knowing full well that most of them will be wasting their money and time and won't make it past day 3. Thats just wrong. There should be a seeding system before the race (before spending all that money), not during.
  12. Try Ashley 0741266479 from Club100 or Eleanor from CycleLab 0217001060. Welcome to Cape Town.
  13. Well done. Don't know how you guys manage to do a race like that. Be proud.
  14. ...and another vote. Good luck!
