Update on the tyre clearance: I've fitted a set of Vittoria RideArmor 30c tubeless tyres for training, and there is plenty of room!

I don't know the area at all except for a quick trip here- https://bikehub.co.za/news/trail-daze-2-0-summerplace-game-reserve/ Well worth a visit if you can and they rent e-bikes and analogue as for as I know.

I was so impressed by the brief time I had on these trails, it really is a special destination, and it is on my bucket list to return and ride everything.

They are local and based in Somerset West, so get in touch: I'm sure they'll be willing to chat, and get feedback on their product info

I did it this year, it but I didn't get around to a story for it! We did the budget version (hotel package) and logistically that is a little more challenging than the boats. There is a fair bit of packing up and bussing and ferries, whereas the boats you unpack once and your 'hotel' takes you from Island to island. If I were to try and klap another international Epic, personally I'd go for Swiss Epic over 4Islands, but it is still an absolutely incredible experience, and you won't regret it!

The main road through Hermanus to Stanford should be safe and they've redone the road so there is a nice big shoulder. Then if you need more mileage take the gravel road past Beloftebos.

According to my sources the Scalpel 2 comes with a Sid Select + (120mm) (aka not a Lefty) and will be available countrywide from Thursday 😊

It's close to my folks, and the riding out there is awe-inspiring, so I'm hoping to give it a go and will report back.
