  1. I have had three complete ruptures of my right ACL, and 1 full tear and 2 partial tears of my meniscus. First thing Ive learnt is that NOTHING is as strong as the real thing, so look after your knees, and every subsequent injury after that rehab time is considerably longer. You are capable of function again, you have to be smart and do the rehab! Ive changed to clipless, I dont wanna bail on my bike and still be cleated in so riding flats was a top priority for me. I always ride with a custom CTi brace from ossur, I put a longish neopreen knee cover underneath it to help with chaff and I have full confidence that my knee will be ok should I bail. I use the CTi for everything when I am in an unpredictable environment. Currently its servicing my biking, surfing and kitesurfing pastimes. I even take it to the obligatory paintball at bachelor parties.
  2. got 2.4 ibex up front and back, not had a single burp or issue, with the stock giant rims... doubt ill go back to anything thinner... new rims are on a looooooong wishlist
  3. Who did your wheels? How you finding those rapides? I'm very close to getting them.
  4. get a backpack to match your baggies...
  5. It is a great bike for R30k. Upgrading slowly, but for now does absolutely everything and anything I throw at it. I agree with PhilipV fist upgrades should be change tyres, I like the 2.4's and a new bar those 780mm rapide are great!
  6. A 2015 giant trance 2, but they are difficult to find new, occasionally one pops up on the classifieds! For a few grand extra you can a get 2016 trance.
  7. I just got a new 2016 Giant trance 2, bought it for R29800. I asked Santam how much it would be insure it and they got back to me for R189 per month? Is this about par? Or would you suggest I shop around and get another quote and pit insurers against each other and try reduce it? Who else should I try?
  8. After calling every LBS in CT, no one really being helpful, (I think I'm just unlucky who I end up getting on the other end). My bike finally arrived! First got to hand it to the new owners at ceres cycles, for stellar service and Rikus in particular organizing new trance 2 and delivering it to claremont! Now to change the tyres and find me some flats!
  9. I went for the trance, I dont mind doing marathons, but I dont do them to get a solid time. Purely made my decision on which I'm going to have the most fun with and if my marathon time increases a bit (probably alot, but thats coz I'm unfit) I'm ok with that. Trance for the fun!
  10. I'm loving the slider1, the lumo yellow looks awesome! wonder what the price is going to be like? In all honesty im holding out for the slider1 over a trance!
  11. I'm holding out for the 2015! Just hope he is priced same as 2014 slider, judging by components it's looking to be a bit more!
  12. congrats, out of interest has anyone done some XC on their trance?
