  1. Rode in Jonkershoek today. No problems in Jonkershoek valley. The fire never came over the ridge. So it's open for riding. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Thanks. I will test it next time I feel it coming on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. You should really try this. I had similar issue and got a big fright. I was out riding and had pushed hard and then stopped - took a few minutes and I started to feel light headed - actually passed out and fell over. After it happened a second time I went to doc. Did stress test, ECG, heart sonar at specialist and could not find any problem. I now do two things differently and have not had the same problem again. 1. Make sure I am properly hydrated and use electrolytes in my bottle. And 2. Don't stop suddenly and just stand - I try and slow down my heart rate from max before stopping or keep walking for a bit once I get off the bike. This seems to allow my body to adjust.
  4. Jonkershoek in the sunset. Awesome! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I have an older version Thule 4 bike hang on type that fits to towball. It's a real struggle to get 4 bikes on. I then wanted a system to load 4 bikes on a trailer so I bought the buzz rack 4 bike and use part of it to mount on the trailer but can easily assemble it as a tow bar mounted unit when not towing the trailer. I will post pics later. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I have the same issue although I am not sure that it is a problem. Tires hold the pressure no problem.
  7. Bell stoker helmet M Matt black please.
  8. I found a multi tool, tire levers and a derailleur hangar on the lower section of Neverending Story today. So if you dropped them PM me and I will let you know where to collect them. Gordon
  9. Jonkershoek is spectacular at the moment. And soon new trails.
  10. Went for a ride in Jonkershoek today - great in spite of the blackened surroundings. But chatting to the guys at the gate and some of the forestry guys I am concerned that there is a real risk of Jonkershoek being closed completely until harvesting is finished because some people just don't want to toe the line. They are having to put more people on site just to manage guys that insist they can ride where they like. The contractors that do the harvesting stand to lose their contracts if they have serious injuries related to their operations - this would put them out of business completely. If it's too difficult to manage the only way they can deal with it is close it completely. In the words of the guys at the gate "men behaving like children!". So my plea is this: - Stay out of the no go areas - if it's taped off, turn around - even if it's not taped off but there are harvesting operations or loading operations don't try and get past, turn around.
  11. Which direction do you ride the trail? Is it best to do the firehut trail from the hut side or the quarry side?
  12. Jet, I ride during the week when I am in Stellenbosch - normally around midday and only occasionally see other riders. I tend to stick to the circular route, a few forest roads or easy single track on my own. I leave info with my colleagues at the office in case I don't come back and they need to send someone to come looking and always have a cellphone with me (although the signal does not always reach parts of the valley). I think the only risk I worry about is a bad fall.
