  1. Ja, unfortunately the rugby club has the ethanol distribution centre open on a Friday afternoon. We gain nothing from that other than venue use. I will raise this as a point we can review for next time. Thx for comment.
  2. Lol! Yes, I was there for a bit. Back and forth... you won't believe how many people do not see the COLLECTIONS left sign....🤦‍♂️
  3. From the finish venue (not finish line) head toward Brackenfell Boulevard (general direction to the right as you leave the venue) that will take you straight to Bottlery or Polka. Very safe, we often ride it
  4. Try your luck at the rugby club TODAY ONLY. DEFINITELY NOT TOMORROW
  5. Yep, doing road marking today. 35C out here. 🥵 Tomorrow only 28C and cloudy 🙏
  6. To be fair what we think we look like and what we ACTUALLY look like is a universal problem 😆
  7. Hi. Yeah, as I said before : seeding and the technical bits are out of our control. CSA/WP/PPA cycling determine all that. However, yes, fall back and have fun. You won't be penalized time wise if you start in a later group (as far as I know)
  8. Out of interest : Who is the audience here in this particular forum: (If you don't mind responding) A. Racing snake (%,$) B. Racing snake (Trilogy) C. Roadie - weekend warrior D. Trilogy - weekend warrior
  9. Maybe it is also time I introduce myself 🙂 Nicholas Haupt, "Chief cook and bottle washer" aka Head Of Operations My role is to supervise teams that do route planning, route indicating, medical, sweeping, etc, etc. I am also the "architect" of the Trilogy which debuted last year. IE I planned the route, cycled the route a number of times to ensure it was viable. I also put together the Trilogy training ride 2 weeks ago to give it a final test drive. I am only one of 10 people on the main committee and 1 of 40 people on a larger operational committee. I am a keen MTBer and roadie with average ability but I do have a passion for cycling So, there we go. Hopefully I'll bump into you guys at the race venue after my duties on the road are done for the day.
  10. Morning All 1 day to go. we are super excited! Some pics of the operations under way today. Looking forward to having you all at our race 🙂 Start/Finish VENUE Finish LINE - it will be fully sanitized and barricaded tomorrow - 500m sprint finish 🙂 The bridge to get to the finish venue Our "Sweep and Pray" team - they literally drove the entire route(s) yesterday with brooms to sweep the road of gravel and debris that may impact your ride - I don't think any other race does that... The starting line
  11. "Actually $ group has been 180 for 2020 race and prior and dropped down to 160 from 2022, based on David Clarke recommendation back in 2021 (no race). I understand that this is still fitting the absolute max number of competitive elite cycles that we see entering our race. Those cyclist have capability close to each other and fitting to compete in one "race / group". The seeding number allowance is actually only 80 cyclists, with an buffer of 80 - this is not shown on the sheet. David fills up to 80 and then use the other 80 for additional as required, as well as late entries. Actual seeding will be lower than 160. We did not have any issues with this for the last few races." Feedback from the powers that be
  12. I will raise this with the relevant people. Let's see what their feedback is
  13. Yeah, can proudly say (with humility - is that possible?) we are the SECOND biggest cycle event in the Western Cape. Only the Cycle Tour has more entries than us. We are expecting over 4000 cyclists on the day across all the groups!
  14. Hi I was told by Finish Time that you can do this AT REGISTRATION ONLY (NOT at number collection on Saturday morning)
  15. Morning all FYI : take note of the chute loading times and factor in your travel time and parking. We had our final planning meeting last and I'm afraid that parking this year is going to be a mission 😓 ....our humble apologies. Also, VERY NB : note that the 76km event start is split by the Trilogy. We had to do this to accommodate the huge 95km group and the massive (almost 500) number of Trilogy riders. If you can cycle to the event please do so!
  16. Just a general FYI : I try and assist where I can but we have no control over seeding or getting your start time email, etc Anything related to those questions has to be sent to Finish Time directly. Email them, details on their website. Anything else to do with the organization of the event I can definitely try and help
  17. Thx for kind words. We try our best. As stated many times, we are a bunch of school parents putting on a bike race. We learn every year and no doubt we make mistakes every year. Your input helps us put on a better event. Be gentle when we get it wrong....
  18. In fact, not.... but pls email me directly
  19. So we had a site meeting at the finish area last night. Unlike Durbie Dash, our finish line is after Schoongezicht street. So, after the climb to the end, you still have almost 500m to the actual finish line and there will be a huge tower across the road so you can't miss the actual finish line. I did request 200m and 100m signage last night but it is too late. We will def arrange for that for next year.
  20. Yep, our race is huge this year. However, remember that we have full road closure for the last 15km to the finish line. So that should help for the sprint finish. It will be like you are at the TdF finish 😁
  21. As far as I know: no, you can start anywhere. Possibly timing issues last year with the new system..? Best would be to actually contact Finish Time directly as that is an area totally out of our control. If you don't get an answer, email me directly
  22. Best is to enter via the TOP of Sports way ie come from De Villiers. Although the bridge is also a good option
  23. Yeah, this is a major "coup" for us 🙂
